Tottenham Hotspur are at the centre of a racism storm following yesterday’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea. But not the one you might think.
The Guardian reports that a Chelsea supporter has been arrested for racially abusing Son Heung-min, who was sent off for an incident involving Antonio Rudiger who reported alleged racist chanting from a Spurs fan.
“The Metropolitan Police is investigating the alleged racist chanting and it also confirmed that a supporter was ejected from the ground and arrested after committing a racially aggravated public order offence,” The Guardian added.
Now this is where it gets interesting.
On the same evening that a member of the travelling Chelsea section has been arrested, Spurs have released a statement saying that a thorough investigation into Rudiger’s accusations has so far proved “inconclusive”.

The German claimed back in 2017 to be targeted by monkey chants but a lack of evidence meant those charges were dropped, reports BBC Sport.

There is unlikely to be any disputing over the Son case as the Chelsea fan in question was reported to the authorities by one of his fellow Blues.
And bravo to them. That is how football can begin to tackle the problem. And regardless of whether a Spurs fan is found guilty or not, the problem persists. It’s just comforting to not have the finger pointed at your own house.
So, after an incident which last night arguably took the racism debate in English football to new levels, could it be that a Spurs player was the true victim, and a Chelsea fan the true culprit?
We probably haven’t heard the last of this.
Not a one.
Has any Spurs supporter at the game backed the claims of racist chants or monkey noises,or was it just booing?
Haha, nah not quite. It’s interesting reading different blogs.
Yes. The media and social media platforms have again been judge and jury with ridiculous over reaction with zero evidence. Just like with Yeovil, and the Chelsea fan with Stirling, both of which were not a racial incidents. If the inevitable occurs and no evidence is found Rudiger needs punishing. I said on another blog, like you say, if you think racism is a problem in Prem Stadiums…..just try it…..see how far you get. The agenda and this protocol has taken us back 40 years and it’s as insidious as it is stupid.
Even Jan has jumped the gun and apologised on behalf of the club to the Chavs for the alleged abuse.
lol!
A racist Chelsea fan?! … (shock, horror) … surely not! … However, on a serious note, let us give credit to the decent Chelsea fans for outing this loser
Exactly, chalk this one down to Rudiger. He got a mouthful when he returned to Roma with Chelsea and pulled the same stunt, with no evidence to substantiate the allegation.
Evidently he thought he could get away with it here too, but given the surveillance level inside the ground, plus the anti-racist sentiment among ordinary, decent, fans, there is no way it would have been missed, or not been reported, by those seated around the culprit.
Naturally Rudiger will be pandered to by the PC brigade and the virtue signalling authorities, probably with obsequious apologies over not being able to find the perpetrator, rather than being taken to task over fabricating the entire incident.
Yes they are. By the way are you lost?😄
Lets see what Gary Neville says about this shall we….
Surprise surprise, it’s a chelsea fan. Always is with them lot. Rotten club and fans.
Because of this protocol it will become like waving imaginary cards etc for players. Cheating Rudiger didn’t like getting a mouth full so he pulls out the old ‘monkey arms’ action. This will only get more and more common.
I expect this whole thing is an incident to piggy back the Yid chant on to. Il be shocked if any evidence is found. This ridiculousness is and will create situations where players will cry racism at anything that they don’t like, cos they know it will be pandered to. Nobody benefits from this kind of backwards attitude. Again it makes a mockery of Barnes, Cunningham, Blissett etc who had to deal with large scale abuse.
Hmm.
