“Why is Mourinho not giving Bale 25 mins” More complaints about Welshman’s omission

By Bruce Grove -

Gareth Bale returned to Tottenham at the start of this season to much fanfare.

After years of underachievement, bringing one of the most decorated footballers of our time back was seen as a major transfer coup for Spurs.

The Welshman had struggled to see playing time at Madrid, but we all thought it had to be because Zinedine Zidane disliked him.

He was given time to get up to speed at Spurs, yet Bale has flattered to deceive when he has played.

In the absence of Harry Kane, Jose Mourinho started him in Tottenham’s game against Brighton and he was ineffective.

He has probably blown his chance to earn a permanent transfer back to Tottenham. However, Spurs’ legend, Graham Roberts, thinks he should be getting playing time at the club.

Having watched as Mourinho finished his substitutions against West Brom without calling on the Welshman, he wondered on Twitter why Bale isn’t being used.

He tweeted: “Why is mourinho not giving bale 25 mins now he’s not going to get fit with 10 mins”

One follower answered him: “Doesn’t trust him Graham”

To which Graham responded: “He didn’t trust de bruyne, and salah at chelski look at them teams gave them a chance”

Lamela has done it for long enough, as an example, he plays one decent game and everything is ok again, but this club has a habit of paying wages for doing nothing.

Well, that negates your original point if you want it both ways.

Yep. The same guy who has warmed up every game prior without even making it on the field. If you cannot trust him to go get you a goal or play when you one up, he is useless to the EPL champaign as simple as that. Jose has made some head scratching decisions, but not playing Bale is not one of them. Am not sure we blame Levy or covid on this one. He was suppose to be ticket office return.

I will have a problem if we lose to them. Not who play against them.

Acknowledging you agree Graham Roberts is a dangerous game.

What part of time-wasting geriatric wage thief did you miss, in respect of Bale?

Well said. It is Levy trying to be clever with regards to Football, and yes, he has fallen short, again.

I agree with Roberts, did Kane, Son or Hojbjerg need 90 minutes, once he acquired his required score line Mourinho shut the game down.
He could have made changes but he is becoming more and more reliant on fewer members of the squad, which has to be a concern.

I do respect Graham Roberts, and he has always been a very vociferous supporter of our great club, but i just want to say, this thing about not giving Salah and De-Bruyne a chance, for crying our loud, he won stuff at Chelski, he played the players who he thought would give him the best chance to win stuff, and that’s what happened. It’s not as if Chelski were struggling to win games. Look at Harry Kane, didn’t exactly pull up trees when he was out on loan before growing into the player we know now. Other players have gone on to be fantastic players after being released by their clubs, but the only ones used as ammunition are the ones that Jose let go… If Bale and Alli want to get into the team, then they need to prove their worth, just like everyone else in the team has to do..

That good Sissoko dropped because what point to play him as defending midfielder Spurs really need attacking midfielder so why not try Bale again and again to allow him getting confidence

Everyone was ineffective including the entire coaching staff against Brighton, bit you blame the guy that has been warming up every game without actually getting into the game. What team are you watching.

Am convinced you are just a chirper. Just parroting nonesense. It is crazy to ask Bale to play the kind of box to box game Jose is asking for. You manage the player. It is as simple as allowing Bale to move inside at the point of attack and relief him of the all behind the ball defense deep in his half. What I am not saying is he should adbicate is responsibilities of tracking back in the flow of the the game or add cover on the strong side. There is no need for him to be busting it 50 yards sprint ala Son. He does not have the legs to do that and that is why it is baffling he is not getting those 20 minutes run out where he can be electric. I understsnd people want him to start, but it is going to happen. I was never for his return, but while he is here, why not use him properly. He looks fine to me in the cup ties.

I see you post this defence a ew times Tappa, but we’re halfway through the season and several million quid in wages down – last ten games isn’t good enough – unless they are MoM performances in League Cup, FA Cup and Europa Leage finals!

  • “bale is not confident enough with his body (yet) to play how he wants to play” is the most logical explanation I’ve heard. (They know their bodies. He could come in strong (I’m expecting him to) for the last 10 games or so and make a real difference, Dele could have some real influence and make an impact by then too. Celly back linking with ndom. Son and Kane back in sink. The defence showing José more of what he wants to see before giving licence to our dangerous attackers to do their thing safely and freely. (Dem no need much instruction) that with Momentum/confidence ect who knows.

It’s not that he doesn’t trust him, it’s Bale doesn’t do enough off the ball. Sissoko and Bergwijn were both dropped v WBA for exactly that I’m sure. If you’re not prepared to do the defensive work off the ball as well as moving while we’re in possession then you won’t get minutes, it’s as simple as that.

its another media abuse against jose, no need for it totally different circumstances at totally different clubs and no disrespect but Bale hasnt played for 2 years and came with a knee injury. This was nothing but a levy publicity stunt which has back fired and lost the impetus. Jose asked for skrinaar a great defensive player we were desperate for. Levy said he was £10 million too much and went and spent £12million in wages for a finished injured player for 6 months, this is the problem with spurs always has been always will. Time for levy to go and stop making needless disastrous decisions

he didnt trust salah etc when they were young and were playing crap and at chelsea needed a quick improvement, they went on to become better players over 3 to 4 years. jose never had 3 to 4 years nor does any chelsea manager. just the way roman runs the club. shouldnt be used as a crticism of jose, if he had 6 years at chelsea like klopp and 4 years at city like pep may have been a different story but why use completely different circumstances for your ongoing grudge against jose which is effing obvious you dik

Bale had 60 minutes against Brighton and was ineffectual. Why would he have been any more effective today? Regrettably, I cannot see what he would contribute to the team if we were defending a lead and I am sure Jose saw it the same way.
