Unlikely Tottenham duo come in for praise after West Brom win

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham earned a 2-0 win over struggling West Brom today as a returning Harry Kane helped with a goal.

The England captain has missed Spurs’ last two-and-half matches, and they have lost all those games.

His return was a major boost to a team that hardly functions in his absence, and today he showed just why.

While he makes the headlines for his performance for the team, the likes of Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela made the most of their time in the game.

Both South Americans were surprise starters as Jose Mourinho employed a front four.

They justified their inclusion in the team and ESPN commentator, Ian Darke says they deserve praise for their performances.

After watching the game, he took to Twitter to praise the duo for their role in the club returning to form.

He tweeted: “More like it from Spurs. Kane/Son will get headlines but Lamela/Lucas energy and desire made a difference and Hojbjerg passing sublime. West Brom lost but fantastic fight from their players today.”

After that performance, both players could now start the next game for the team, and that may see the likes of Steven Bergwijn struggle to get back in the side.

He’s an inspirational player and influential for any team. He’s going to be very involved because he’s a competitor and will fight well for his place. He looks strong and fit too. He’s well able to do well for Tottenham over the course of the remainder of the season. He’s matured and must be great to have on your side because he gives his all on a consistent basis whenever he manages to get a run of matches. He’s get better for more game time as well. He’s eactly the sort of player Tottenham should have playing on their first team if they want to become a successful outfit.

They got praise for their performances today. Perform like that weekly and they will get praise. But it’s that consistency that separates the better players so you know what you get most weeks rather than than how these two players perform usually.

Lamaula. Smooth with a roughness (yet Fragile) be giving more of that energy/progressiveness you’ll get games. Start demanding the same from your mandem out there. Lead by example long timer. Step up. Anyway, spend tomorrow in the pool🌚

No doubt Lamela and Lucas Moura are talented players but injury, inconsistency and lack of end product undermine them.

Excellent today, more please.
