According to Transfer insider Dean Jones, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy, is no longer keen on bringing Mauricio Pochettino back to the club.
Previous reports had suggested that Levy was personally interested in reappointing the Argentine, despite reservations from other senior figures at the club, including sporting director Fabio Paratici.
However, newer reports have emerged claiming that Levy has had a change of heart regarding Pochettino, and Jones has now confirmed this to be the case.
In an interview with GiveMeSport, Jones stated that “Daniel Levy is not as hot as he was on Pochettino. It’s as simple as that.”
Pochettino had been linked with a return to Spurs for some time, but recent reports suggest that he may wait until the summer to make a decision.
But as per Jones, even though he is open-minded about his options, with Real Madrid also said to be interested in his services, he is not the one turning down Spurs.
Jones told GiveMeSport:
“I wouldn’t say Pochettino is more likely to go to Real Madrid, but I would just say he’s open-minded about how this could play out.
“I know people like to think that Pochettino is turning down Tottenham because he wants Real Madrid, but that’s not strictly true.
“Daniel Levy is not as hot as he was on Pochettino. It’s as simple as that.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham have been linked with several other managers, with former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann and former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique considered the favourites for the job.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Nagelsmann is thought to be the frontrunner, although there is also strong interest in Luis Enrique.
Both managers are reportedly open to managing in the Premier League, with Luis Enrique expressing an interest in the Tottenham job as well as the Chelsea job. Nagelsmann is also said to be an option for the Blues.
It will be interesting to see who Levy ultimately appoints as the club’s new manager. With several top managers available, Tottenham fans will be hoping that the new man can finally lead the club to success.
