“I’m told…” – Levy changes stance on managerial candidate as journalist shares the latest update

Dean Jones believes the latest Paratici situation could have been in favour of Mauricio Pochettino’s return to the club as manager, but Levy seems to have had a change of heart.

It was previously reported that the Italian would not prefer working with Mauricio Pochettino since the Argentine liked to work with his close group of loyal people which would have undermined his authority at the club.

His preferred choice for the job according to reports is former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique and he is said to be a huge admirer of him.

However, after FIFA’s decision to extend the ban on Juventus officials worldwide, this is expected to affect Paratici’s role at the club.

According to the BBC, Paratici will not be able to continue his role at Spurs following FIFA’S decision. The club have seeked more clarity on the matter meanwhile.

Despite this news being favourable for Pochettino who Daniel Levy was personally interested in appointing, it is now being claimed that Levy has had a change of heart about the Argentine.

Jones told GiveMeSport:

“Levy had always fancied bringing Pochettino back and that was going to clash eventually with Paratici’s role, so it looked like it would be up to the Italian to bring forward names that would make him think otherwise.

“What actually happened recently is that I’m told Levy started to have second thoughts about a Poch return, and that’s why he hasn’t rushed into it right now. It will be interesting to see how he deals with the situation as this Paratici situation plays out – the whole process is looking slightly different to the one we were expecting.”

This year has been a year to forget for Spurs fans. Despite a decent start to the campaign, they have seen their season derail post World Cup. A number of first team stars have suffered long term injuries; they have been knocked out of all the competitions; Conte has had a public meltdown and then gotten sacked and now their director will potentially need to step down.

The club is an absolute mess at the moment and they will need to sort things out very quickly if they are to attract a decent manager in the summer.

The instability at the club may make it difficult to secure a top-tier manager.

Fans will be hoping that the club sorts everything out by summer which is when they are expected to make a decision on Conte’s replacement.
