Gary Neville Gives Mixed Verdict On Harry Kane To Manchester United [video]

By Joe Fish -

Gary Neville has told Sky Sports that signing Tottenham striker Harry Kane would be right on trend with Manchester United’s transfer policy.

However, the Old Trafford legend believes that Kane’s recent suggestion about leaving Spurs could merely have been leverage against Daniel Levy after his decision to furlough 550 non-playing staff amid the COVID-19 crisis.

But I think that there was more to Kane’s comments in his Instagram interview with Jamie Redknapp last month than to start a power struggle with Levy.

I doubt that Kane is worth £200 mill. He is 27 in July and injury prone and all transfer values are likely to be lower after the economic hit from the virus, and he will have little resale value. Real Madrid are rumoured to be after M’bappe and they are altering their transfer policy towards younger recruits. I also doubt that he made his comments to Redknapp as a protest against Levy, but merely as a belated realisation that he will never win anything with Levy at the the helm. Having said that, he was probably disgusted by Levy’s furloughing tactics. I don’t think there are many obvious destinations for Kane, and Man Utd would fit the bill, but dealing with Levy is like having a colonoscopy without any anaesthetic. By the way, is anybody else bored by having to listen to or read Gary Neville’s comments about all and sundry?

The BBC have us saying Kane will not be sold this summer and certainly not to a direct rival.Let’s see.
Utd. are probably one of the few clubs who would come anywhere close to what Levy thinks Kane will command in a transfer fee.
