“They look fresh” – Sky Sports pundit has high praise for Antonio Conte after the win over Brighton

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur kicked off the post-January transfer window with a win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The group against The Seagulls is what manager Antonio Conte will count on to fight for a top-four spot and challenge for a domestic cup.

Ahead of Spurs’ next fixture against Southampton, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson wrote a column for Sportskeeda, where he had high praise for how manager Antonio Conte has the squad playing.

Furthermore, Merson touched on how the north London club’s two newest players, Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski, didn’t look like newcomers. Instead, the former Juventus players appeared as they played for Tottenham for weeks.

“They look fresh, and it looks like Antonio Conte is getting them to play the way he wants them to in the Premier League,” Merson wrote. “They’ve brought two players in from Juventus, but it isn’t like they were playing for them every week.”

“Tottenham don’t have it in them to mix in with the big boys at the moment, and we’ll have to wait and see. Conte knows his signings well, however, and that’s a big advantage.”

Tottenham sits in seventh place in the Premier League standings with 36 points, but only two points from fourth-place Manchester United and they have two games hand over The Red Devils.

They also have an upcoming game next month against Manchester United, so that will be a pivotal fixture, so these next few weeks will be interesting to see if any of these clubs are fighting for top-four fallout or it remains a neck and neck race.

The season starts now, Conte has had two weeks to bed his ideas in with a near complete squad.

The players look like their are a team pulling in the same direction, the bad apples have been jettisoned.

4th place is definitely up for grabs, in Conte we trust

It’s only Brighton.. The same Brighton that the Chavs failed to beat in their last three meetings.. Should have been more goals too.. How on earth did Stevie B miss that though, after his recent heroics too, he has to sort his consistency out fast to be in Contes plans.
