It isn’t violent conduct – 2019 standards of this red card offence seriously need addressing. But it is petulant, it is selfish and it is indefensivable.
And the South Korean can have no complaints about being sent off, for the third time in his last 16 Premier League games. That is simply unacceptable.
There is barely any contact, and Rudiger goes down with greater theatrics than Marcos Alonso did in first-half stoppage time, when he legitimately was assaulted by Paulo Gazzaniga in the first Spurs head loss of the day.

Jose Mourinho was supposed to be the answer to big-game mentality and yet we have had a collective mental breakdown in his biggest game yet.
I love Son but he does have a mean streak in him, especially when things don’t go his way. He was 100% to blame for the Gomez incident at Everton. I was not amused that he got himself sent off today.
I don’t know the rules. Is the red card for the petulance or the studs on torso, or the degree of contact/danger to the victim, or a mix of all those things? I saw it as a yellow in terms of the overall threat to the foulee’s health.
