Report: Tottenham Hotspur target Franck Kessie to sign with Barcelona on a free transfer

By Eddie Razo -

Over the past few months, Tottenham Hotspur was linked to AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, whose contract is expiring in June. The north London club has wanted to upgrade their midfield and grab a quality midfielder on a free transfer.

However, it seems as though Spurs will need to go looking elsewhere for a new midfielder. According to transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano, Kessie reached a verbal agreement days ago with FC Barcelona.

The 25-year-old will be heading to the Spanish club on a four-year deal where he will receive €6.5m net salary plus add-ons joining as a free agent.

Tottenham added Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus FC during the January transfer window to improve the position. Last summer, did acquire Pape Matar Sarr from FC Metz and will come over this summer.

Nonetheless, to bring in someone like Kessie, who could be the backbone for their midfield, would have been a massive addition to the squad. Instead, Spurs will have to look elsewhere to add quality talent to the position.

Great player though and on a free.. You’re right injuries have held him back.. I would suggest a pay as you play contract.

Dybala is another player we will be linked with, exciting player but he’s twenty nine and has a shocking injury record, so the Premier League would be the wrong place for him.

This has been on the cards for some time. Dyabala wants Citeh and T’Pau he say No.
That is ok we cant expect the cream to come but ffs put a beast of a CB at the top of the list who can jump & doesnt mind putting his head in.

Why target players that don’t want to come here, so it’s good news.

It’s a shame. But we are going to miss out on most of the players linked to us. Ultimately, if Levy creaks open his purse enough to get 2-3 ‘strong reinforcements’ in key areas of the squad… and they are the players Conte wants (as opposed to just having a ‘for sale 40% off’ sticker on them)… then Conte will win something (Champions League qualification minimum)… if he hangs around and Manure don’t poach him.

Kulu and Bentacur weren’t at the top of the ‘to buy’ lists… but they were still wanted by Conte.

Why should this surprise anybody, another nearly Spurs target.

On another note,I wonder if Levy lost out to Wembley in the bid to host the next Finalissima, which is between the champions of Europe(Italy) and South America(Argentina) on June 1st.
