Pundit urges Tottenham to sell first-team player in the summer

By Mehdi Gokal -

Former Crystal Palace owner and talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan has stated that he would sell Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris this summer following reports of a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.

Lloris has had a tough season with Tottenham, making several unforced errors resulting in goals. He has also picked up two injuries this year, the latest during their defeat to Newcastle United which has seen his season come to an end.

With his season now over, many believe he has played his last game for Spurs with reports suggesting he could be on his way out this summer.

He only has a year left in his current contract and Spurs are reportedly open to selling him with the club already in search for a long-term replacement for him.

According to The Times, Lloris has received an offer from a club in Saudi Arabia that would triple his £100,000-a-week wages. However, the 36-year-old has not yet made a decision on his future and is expected to hold talks with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy at the end of the season.

And his agent has reportedly confirmed that the 36-year-old is to study all the options available to him before he makes a decision, hinting that a move away from Spurs could be on the cards.

But former Crystal Palace owner and talkSport pundit, Simon Jordan has urged the club to sell him in the summer following the offer from Saudi, claiming that he would “send him over there in a cab” himself.

Jordan believes that Spurs should sell Lloris and take advantage of the lucrative offer. He also criticised the Saudi Arabian league as “very, very underperforming,” and compared the country’s recent pursuit of European star players to China’s brief stint in the spotlight a few years ago.

He told talkSPORT (via HITC):

“I’d send him over there (to Saudi Arabia) in a cab if it was me!”

“That Saudi thing is a moment of time, like China,”

“It depends if you’re a player in your prime. What kind of player are you that you want to play in a very, very underperforming league.”

“Oscar did it. He came out of Chelsea when he was allegedly at the top of his game. And he got a bag of money (in China).

“But they are always going to get this bag of money (anyway). They are not going to the poor house. If I am 26, and playing for one of the big clubs, I would be looking at my career first.”

While Spurs may be considering selling Lloris this summer, the decision will be a significant one for the club and its fans.

The Frenchman has been a loyal servant to Tottenham for over a decade, but his recent performances have raised questions about his future at the club.

Nonetheless, if Lloris decides to take the offer from Saudi Arabia, it could provide him with a new challenge and a chance to earn a substantial amount of money before his retirement.
