Jose Mourinho has dismissed the idea of Juan Foyth leaving Tottenham Hotspur on loan in January, according to Sky Sports.
A report from The Athletic in the week claimed that Foyth wanted to play more regularly and may seek a move away to make that happen.
However, after being impressed with his performance against Bayern Munich – his first start under Mourinho – the Portuguese has “killed” off those suggestions and insisted Foyth is going nowhere.

“At the moment, the players that went to Munich with us are part of our squad, so I don’t think there will be many doors open for players to get out on loan,” Mourinho is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“If you want to be more direct like some media that was saying Foyth was one of them – I can kill it now. No chance.”
Many fans would be pleased to see the Argentina international on the team sheet more often, especially amidst the worry of losing him.
But that is unlikely to be as a right-back – where he plays for his country – as Mourinho explained he cannot fulfil the role he is looking for – an attack-minded wide outlet in the way Serge Aurier has excelled thus far.
When asked about the prospect of Foyth at right-back, he told Sky Sports:
“Depends [sic] what you want from a right-back. If you want one that plays like Aurier then no. Aurier plays like a winger and Juan can’t play as a winger.
“If you want to play more closed inside, more positional, more balance to the team defensively then I think he can [play right-back]. He is intelligent and holds the ball well.”
OPINION There is a seriously good footballer in Foyth, waiting to be unearthed.
I’m not sure it’s at centre-back, Jose is not sure it’s at right back. But we have to find something for him soon. He is too good to drift along as he is now.
You have to have a more creative player in that DM spot than Eric Dier. Foyth is a possibility, although in my opinion the best potential candidate for the role, currently at the club, would be Toby Alderweireld!
A bold suggestion perhaps, but with his range of passing and defensive instincts he could be the ideal player for the role and would be less exposed for pace, than if he was an out and out CB, which might benefit him in the latter stages of his career.
5-5 formation
Been saying it for the last 18months – he’s a ball playing defensive midfielder.
COYFS!!
In what is likely to be an entertaining encounter Wolves currently on an unbeaten 11 game run are no mugs and capable of exploiting any defensive lapses!
lets hope their place drains well then.
Yes, exciting stuff. Hopefully Jose’s voodoo is good and everyone is nice and rested. sometimes it hurts us though.
Currently lashing down with rain in the Midlands!!
With both sides attack conscious one certainty is that this match ain’t going to end nil nil!!
Hopefully we will be level with Chelscum after we beat them and Wolves is a six point game. 😰
Said as much myself recently, give him a go he’s good at tracking back.
Who’s handing it to them?
Can remember watching that bunch at the lamex (a lot) mainly to watch young Marcus “tear dem up” I never really noticed winks and skip (though they served up Marcus well) i tipped Marcus. yoshy O. and L Amos’s to make it. Marcus WILL make it. joshy O struggling at Fulham and Amos is doing well. Troy wasn’t there then. Vickers looked good too.
Ha! Seems to be.
Nice little brace lukey Amos son. Keep doing your work.
Good footballer is Foyth. Just seems a but gangly and gorkey still.
Centre back should be his position but he could be a good defensive midfielder maybe he could do the Eric Dier role but with some South American guile?
We need to beat Wolves otherwise we are treading mud.
It’s less about being one of the top 4, more about not one of the worst 16.
ENIC fc being handed top 4 again.
