“No ambition” “Put Lewis & Levy To Shame” These Disheartened Spurs Fans Attack Ownership Again

By Joe Fish -

The financial crisis surrounding football doesn’t seem to apply to Chelsea.

Sky Sports understands that Roman Abramovich has got his cheque book out to agree a £49.4m, £200-000-per-week deal for prolific RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, right from under the noses of long-term suitors Liverpool.

The cash-splashers across London have previously agreed to the £33.3m transfer of Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech – fee according to Sky Sports – so have two top-class talents arriving for next season, while the rest of us are scratching around for loans and free transfers amid the Covid-19 chaos.

Chelsea have been outspending us for years, but this summer market was supposed to be a great equalizer, and news of more major investment in player recruitment from Abramovich has opened old wounds among Spurs fans who wish our ownership showed just a shred of the same ambition.

Blame Levy & ENIC for their own failings all you want but you can’t put any responsibility at their feet for the actions of others. Let Chelsea do what they want. The blokes they’re buying aren’t better than Harry and Sonny.

A savvy businessman who knew anything about football would be taking advantage of the collapse in the transfer market and would go out and invest at finally reasonable prices to reinforce the squad and cement our place as a top four side. Unfortunately, Levy won’t do this and will huddle in his bunker whilst the top sides strengthen. Let us not forget to add Newcastle into the mix if the Saudi takeover is allowed. We should have followed the Liverpool model and got the football team right first before saddling the club with so much debt.

Spurs average age of the first team squad this season was 25 and with Vertonghen,Rose and Vorm possibly leaving it will be younger still.Chelsea even with their kids was higher, but with Willian and Pedro leaving on a free will also go down.We have used 11 players aged 23 or under this season.

We build stadiums other top clubs build teams. This is what building a team really looks like – Pulisic, Ziyech, Werner, Kovacic and academy that actually does provide players to the first team, regularly. Chelsea are putting together a savage squad.

Chelsea made £57m profit on selling their best player Eden Hazard, that covers the cost of Werner ,they will probably make a profit on him as well it’s less of a risk when you buy quality.Abramovic will not be spending much of his own money considering he has lost £2.4billion recently due to the corona virus.

The blokes they’re buying might no be better than Sonny and Harry but I’ll tell you one big difference, they’re younger. One of the worst aspects of Levy shutting down for three windows is the age of the team. We’ve gone from one of the youngest to one of the oldest. And not old in a good way, mature experienced players, but players who are on the downhill run, like Hugo, Verts, Toby. Even for Sonny and Harry the clocks ticking in a big way. Contrary to most of the pundits saying there’ll be little money spent I b
eg to differ. Now is the time to strike, now is the time to raid other desperate clubs for their best players. I think Chelsea, City and Liverpool and United will all spend this summer putting even more distance between themselves and the rest. I’d like to know how Chelsea are spending this money within the FFP. Maybe they’re going to be selling a few. Maybe they are anticipating a relaxation of the rules.
