Mourinho Reveals Two Players He’d Planned To Sub Early Against West Ham

By Joe Fish -

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he was not planning on giving Giovani Lo Celso or Harry Kane 90 minutes last night against West Ham.

Lo Celso has been dealing with a niggling injury while Kane was starting successive games in five days after six months out of competitive action.

It was only the determination of the two players to keep going which changed Mourinho’s mind, as he told his post-match press conference per Football London.

The Portuguese is quoted as saying: “I rely a lot on the players’ feelings. For example Lo Celso today I was thinking not to give him 90 minutes and then in the end when I was communicating with him the feedback was always I’m fine. With Harry it was the same.”

Kane’s insistence to play on in particular proved fruitful as he bagged his first goal since the Premier League restart to seal a 2-0 win.

Lo Celso also completed the 90 minutes and was the standout performer after dictating play throughout the second half. I had a feeling that we might see Tanguy Ndombele replace the Argentine with the score goalless after an hour, but the breaking of the deadlock soon after changed that.

There are eight days until our next outing against Sheffield United so Mourinho should be able to pick free of any fitness concerns.
