Italian press claim Tottenham hopes to reunite Antonio Conte with £77M Talent

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to improve its forward position this summer. While at Inter Milan, manager Antonio Conte leaned on two strikers capable of racking up goals, so it comes as no surprise that he wants to do the same in north London.

Spurs are connected to a few candidates who can fill that role, including one who has experience playing for the Italian tactician. La Repubblica (via Sky Sports) reports Tottenham is interested in out-of-favor Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku to reunite him with Conte.

Lukaku has endured an unsuccessful return to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea’s club-record transfer and, after 12 months, could be on the way out. A return to Inter Milan has been ruled out, but a reunion with Conte, under whom he won Serie A with the Italian club, could occur.

The 28-year-old spent two seasons with Conte at Inter Milan, where he made 94 appearances while scoring 64 goals and registering 16 assists. A reunion with the 52-year-old could see Lukaku rediscover that form.

There was a PL game this season when he played 90 minutes, and touched the ball seven times. One of those seven was when he took the kick-off. Luxury player whose best days are long past.

Hahaha … the most asinine and implausible transfer rumour of the entire football season! Only a complete hack, (of which there are a considerable number), with an IQ of about 50, would concoct such a ridiculous narrative!

Notwithstanding the fact that Chelsea wouldn’t sell us a postage stamp, or that Levy would rather cut off his left testicle than spend 77 million on a 29 year old striker, the fundamental problem is that Lukaku, as a player, is not well suited to the EPL.

Anyone who understands football could have predicted, as I did, that the Lukaku purchase, by Chelsea from Inter, was doomed from the outset. In fact, given the price tag, it’s probably the worst transfer in the history of the Premier League. A monumental waste of money!

Lukaku is too slow for the EPL, in thought and in movement, his first touch is not great and his strengths, specifically his physical attributes, which were contributive to his success in Serie A, are much less effective in the faster, more physical, environment of the EPL.

In the last 30 years, Spurs have had 3 transfers from Chelsea; Cudicini (08/09), Grodas (97/98), and Cundy (92/93).

If that represents what they were willing to let us have, surely alarm bells ought to be ringing very loudly about Lukaku?

Haha, ain’t happening on so many levels; Levy spending that sort of money, Lukaku sitting on the bench etc. More chance of being hit by a asteroid made of chocolate.
