How Tottenham could look with Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon in the squad

By Bruce Grove -

It is looking increasingly likely that Daniel Levy will pull off a remarkable double swoop on Real Madrid that could be a massive game-changer for Tottenham.

Betting has apparently been suspended on Bale joining Spurs with his agent confirming talks are ongoing and Fabrizio Romano appears to have confirmed that Reguilon is all but a Tottenham player.

Adding these two to the squad would be huge, it really cannot be underestated the difference Bale would make and what Reguilon may make.

There are many ways the team could line up, Jose Mourinho would have an abundance of options and if Tanguy Ndombele comes good then all of a sudden the squad looks formidable.

Below is just one starting XI that Mourinho could go with…

Obviously that could easily be changed with an in-form Dele Alli, Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura able to slot in when required.

The central defence may be suspect but apart from that Spurs would look formidable, certainly on paper.

There are questions hanging out there. Can Mourinho get this group playing together being the biggest one but signing both Bale and Reguilon could be and should be a game-changer that makes Spurs competitive once again.

The way most fans are feeling at the moment its a real shame that the stadium will be empty when Bale makes his first appearance on the pitch ,would love to have been there.

H I think Bale would be on the right and Son on the left? Remember those goals where he cuts in from the right, runs parallel with the box leaving the defender for dead before rocketing one into the corner. Does the same for Wales. Of course with Kane hanging around in the middle looking for any possible tap in if the keeper parries. Son, Kane and Bale is pretty mouth watering. Doherty and Rag whateverhisname bombing down both flanks too. Would compensate for our underperforming mids some.

Sanchez and Tanganga could yet play their way into the side, and beyond that I’m hoping we still purchase a couple more – maybe the South Korean defender and a cheapish ‘big unit’ forward?

Will be interesting if Bergwijn can make a case for himself starting more games.

If Aurier stays that’s an interesting second option at right back – he makes mistakes esp in tight games, but also he is sometimes really quite good if we’re on the front foot. Rose and Foyth have to be off.

Lamela and Sissoko will be dependable subs if the team is playing well in general/before they’re subbed on. Winks I guess I feel the same about, but if he wasn’t a homegrown think we’d have sold him already (although I guess part of the appeal for City’s reported interest was that he’s a homegrown) – he needs to push on.
