This week, Tottenham Hotspur decided to part ways with midfielder Dele Alli. After seven years, the 25-year-old left north London and landed with Everton on a performance-based deal. The Toffees won’t need to pay any amount for Alli until he makes 20 appearances.

Nonetheless, during his press conference, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte spoke with the media, where he discussed the departure of Alli. The Italian tactician stated that the midfielder should have a fresh start and new challenge.

“I think it was a good decision for both sides, for the club and the player. I think Dele needed to have another experience and to have another challenge in his life,” Conte said, per Sky Sports.

“He’s a good guy, and for sure, I want to tell him thanks for the time that we worked together… Good luck to Dele and the other players that went on loan to other teams.

At Tottenham, managers like Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espírito Santo, and Antonio Conte tried to help Alli rediscover the past form under former boss Mauricio Pochettino. However, they were unsuccessful. After rumors of a possible departure, the move finally occurred.

The former Spurs midfielder hopes that a change of scenery will help jump-start his career. Furthermore, it’s in the best interest of Tottenham to see Alli flourish at Goodison Park, considering it raises the amount they’ll receive from the transfer.

If the full £40m (if correct, as has been reported) is eventually forthcoming, its a fantastic bit of business by THFC.
