Did Yesterday’s Session Against Norwich City Hint At Change Of Heart On Spurs’ #21, From Mourinho?

By Joe Fish -

Just as it looks as though Juan Foyth has one foot out of the door at Tottenham, could Jose Mourinho be about to drag him back in?

Rob Guesty of Football London reports that the Argentine defender was used at right-back during yesterday’s friendly defeat to Norwich City.

This is something that Spurs fans have been begging for since Foyth’s very brief run on the right. at the end of the 2018-19 season. Transfermarkt lists Foyth as starting at right-back for us in only two games – against Man City and West Ham in April 2019 – but most of his 10 international caps have come on the flank, and he is now Argentina’s first choice in that position.

Mourinho has thus far been reluctant to use Foyth at right-back, or at all. His agent told talkSPORT that the 22-year-old was on the lookout for more regular minutes. Could he yet find them as an alternative to Serge Aurier?

It is likely that Mourinho was only using Foyth to plug a gap while he gave his preferred center-backs a run-out, but the kid is clearly talented, and transitioning him to another role is the only way we’ll ever see that talent develop at Spurs.

Back to putting square pegs in round holes,he is not good enough for any position right now and will be another weak link for opposition teams to exploit. If we can’t sell him, loan him out to another PL team were he can gain experience.
