Bales return to fitness might end first-team chances for this player claims pundit

By Bruce Grove -

Michael Brown reckons that Lucas Moura knows that his days as a starter in the Tottenham first team are numbered as Gareth Bale nears full fitness.

Bale joined Spurs from Real Madrid on loan this summer and the Welsh winger is tipped to become a member of a front three including Son Heung-min and Harry Kane when he returns to full fitness.

He is still working hard to be in top shape at the club and he is one player who will start anytime, as long as he is fit.

Jose Mourinho has eased him into action in some games now and with time he will certainly be playing more regularly.

When that happens, Brown reckons that Moura is the member of the current starting XI that will give way.

He reckons that the Brazilian knows what is coming before adding that even central midfield players like Tanguy Ndombele are not safe.

Brown told Football Insider: “He knows it’s coming but all of them have got to be aware of Gareth Bale and what he is.

“Tanguy Ndombele in that advanced role as well. There’s many ways that he could change it round but defensively as well, you’ve sort of said it’s where they needed to get better.

“To get a clean sheet at Burnley, I think that will have pleased him.”

Greetings, DD.

I certainly don’t expect the same level, especially with pace, although I’ve learned not to say never.

I agree with those who believe it is primarily a matter of getting back to fitness and form.

I have always been around and reading, but I do not tend to post a lot. This season has been such a welcome change, and it has left me with a few contributions to make.

Stay well !

What about putting Rodon in a back three with Dier & Toby and Reggi Lwb & Doherty in his proper position of rwb. Hojbjerg and N’dombele in the middle

I would like to see Vinicius play up front with Kane & Son until Bale gets his fitness back.N’dombele is currently undroppable alongside Hojbjerg.

Jeez when I first joined this blog I took a fair amount of stick in the early days surviving hostilities until HH kindly intervened by asking fellow bloggists to play the ball not the man!!

Just needs to get his fitness up to speed. Nothing more needed really. Second half of the season we’ll see the bale we know. He’ll still be flying down wings just not as often

Hi Mit assuming you have returned to the fold from the days of Spurtacus, Ronwol and Nilly welcome back?
Regarding Bale with injuries having taken it’s toll and well short of match fitness perhaps expecting the same player flying down the wing scoring fab goals simply ain’t going to happen!!

For now, Lucas drops into pressure and lane coverage much better than Bale. Perhaps Bale is still working into the fitness required. Tough to discern.

Bale was the only substitution to get more than 45′ at Antwerp. Uncertain whether that was more for Bale’s sake, or for the sake of keeping Kane off as long as possible.

Agree with the premise of the article only if Bale puts in the work required to be a complete player. He is not there at this point.
