April could be the month that makes or breaks Jose Mourinho at Tottenham

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham plays a cup final and three Premier League games in April and those four games could well decide Jose Mourinho’s future at Spurs.

Picking up nine points in the league and lifting a piece of silverware would more or less guarantee that the Special One will remain at the helm next season, dropped points and runners up in the Carabao Cup and the writing will most probably be on the wall for the Portuguese.

The next three EPL fixtures for Tottenham are as follows

Newcastle United – away
Manchester United – home
Everton – away

Now, with no disrespect to Newcastle, that is a game that Spurs pick up all three points, failure to do so would be unforgivable considering how poor Steve Bruce’s men are right now.

United at home and Everton away are two games that we could easily lose but they are also two games that can be won, they will be tough games for sure but these are the sort of games that can be pivotal and is when a highly decorated and well-paid manager should step up to the plate and deliver.

Mourinho could and probably should survive losing to Man City in the Carabao Cup final but if they were to also drop six points against United and Everton in the same period then it would be hard to see how he could survive.

Would winning the Carabao Cup be enough for Daniel Levy if Spurs fail to make the top four? I do not know but to fail to make the top four and pick up no silverware is hard to defend and I doubt too many could argue if Levy makes his move on Mourinho.

April is going to be critical to the future of Mourinho, he will either end the month as a trophy winner with a team bang in the middle of a top-four race or possibly end it with no silverware and adrift of the Champions League places.

It really is crunch time for all concerned, especially the manager.

I’ll throw my hat in the ring. I want Maureen to stay. Get rid of the mutineers. The dross. The shysters leeching around Hotspur Way.

I have had it with the manager merry go around just to cover up the incompetent owners who have put the club into massive debt. Fak it get in Ian Holloway. He’s game for a laugh.

The Carabo is meaningless to Levy and many of us (for different reasons).

Jose could win that pot and still be sacked.

Jose needs to use every ounce of his managerial experience to rescue our season now. These are the players he has to work with and they are potentially better than a pub team, despite all the snowflakes! 😂

Jermaine Defoe defines it all in this statement when talking about why Kane should leave the club if he wants to win things.

‘Since I’ve come away from that and gone to Rangers, I’ve seen that mentality and played for another big club, the importance of playing for that club and winning every game, that mentality, the standards, and demands.
‘You have to win and bring silverware, otherwise, it’s not good enough. When you actually achieve that and the feeling you get from that, wow man. I wish I had that earlier on in my career. There you have it then from a great player who spent his prime years under ENIC

No manager will achieve much under Levy and ENIC.
