COVID-19 has affected Tottenham Hotspur this season, causing them to postpone and even forfeit matches due to the squad contracting the virus. It appeared as though the north London club was out of the woods with positive cases, but that might not be the case.
The Daily Mail relayed the remarks of manager Antonio Conte, who revealed that they are monitoring a couple of possible COVID-19 cases.
“We are checking a couple of situations; we’ll see,” Conte said. “We are checking a couple of situations about Covid. Yeah, players. We didn’t do this (name them) in the past, and we will continue to do this in the same way. We are not 100 percent sure they will miss the game.”
Conte added that the players they’re concerned about have undergone a PCR test and are awaiting the results ahead of their domestic cup fixture.
Spurs will head to Stamford Bridge for their EFL Cup semi-final matchup against Chelsea on Wednesday. As a result, Tottenham could be without some players on their squad, hoping to avoid another outbreak that sees matches postponed and complicates their schedule even further.
Furthermore, it marks the return of Conte, where he spent two seasons as The Blues manager, leading them to the 2016–17 Premier League title.
