Antonio Conte critical of Spurs’ past moves in the transfer market

By Eddie Razo -

Over the past couple of transfer windows, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso were significant arrivals for Tottenham Hotspur. They were two players who had many expectations placed on their shoulders to build off the club’s UEFA Champions League appearance in 2019.

However, both have left north London in less than three years since arriving at Spurs. During his press conference, manager Antonio Conte was critical of Tottenham for their methods in the transfer market.

“Only when you are inside the situation, you understand very well which is the best solution for the club – which players in this moment. To lose four players in January is not normal. We shared the decision with the club and the players, but it means that something wrong happened in the past,” Conte said, per Sky Sports.

“Usually, you find a player to reinforce your team, not to lose the player after one or two years. For this reason, we have to pay more attention in the future in the market about the choice of the players.”

This past January window, the Premier League club made a double swoop to land Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski. The north London club and Conte are hopeful that these transfers will pan out and break the form of recent flops over the past few years.

In the summer, Conte will mold the squad even further, and the Italian tactician has a good track record of bringing in players and putting them in roles that can allow them to succeed. Tottenham will hope that this continues in his tenure with them.

Hitchen is supposed to be leaving. The biggest loss, bigger than Paul Mitchell was the loss of Michael Edwards to Liverpool, he has revolutionised their recruitment and brought them back to the top. He was at Spurs and left.

Hutchens is probably someone who needs to go; pretty useless, I feel. Losing Paul Mitchell was a sad – but self inflicted – blow for us.

No fooling Conte. He absolutely inspires confidence that he knows what he is doing.

I think even the genius must have blushed a little if he watched that presser. I’d guess Conte has several red lines and if I was the Spurs football genius I wouldn’t cross them.

Eastie the roots of this go much deeper than the last three years. If you go onto the UK Independent newspaper website. There is a very interesting article on why Liverpool have got their recruitment right and Spurs haven’t. If you search for the journalist’s name Melissa Reddy you can read the article. Lots of stuff about Spurs I didn’t know. The Independent let you read some articles for free.

Really like the man and the manager. By all rights, I should feel more optimistic, but deep inside I know Levy is gonna botch it. Just like he did with Poch. I seriously doubt Conte will stay with us longer than his current 18-month contract.

They’ve proved you can be both.

My main question would be, what the f*ck do Levy, Hitchen etc think they’ve been doing over the last four years? Apart from dismantling and destroying our most promising period as a club for many years?

They’re either totally incompetent or massive ars*holes. Or both…

He’s right, the way the club have been behaving over the last three or four years has been disgracefully poor. ‘Clowns’ as some pundits refer to them.

Conte won’t tolerate clowns…

& we all know he’s so right to do so.
The evolution starts here as he stated in his press interview yesterday, amongst other honest & positive things & with it, please God, the mad & fictitious media ramblings of him ‘walking’ may subside (until the next transfer window at least)

You can’t help but feel that his moves in the market will help to stablise the harmony in the dressing room and have all the players on the same page.

Finally we have a manager who tells it like it is.He knows whatever happens with him and Spurs, his reputation is inract. He’s laid out our problems as plain as he can and Levy must privately be seething.I was goingto write, pulling out his hair but…..

These home truths have needed to be said for so long and now we have a manager with the balls to put it out in the public domain.I love him.
