“Your sources are not very good” – Former Tottenham defender takes a jab at Sky Sports after Harry Kane announces he’s staying

By Eddie Razo -

The Harry Kane saga has reached its conclusion with the 28-year-old announced that he’d remain with Tottenham Hotspur past the summer transfer deadline.

All summer, Kane saw his name connected with Manchester City, the only team that could probably offer to meet the London-based club’s asking price. Football shows all over gobbled up this rumor as it hit overdrive following the UEFA Euros and Kane missing days of training.

Following the striker’s decision to remain, club legend Former Tottenham defender Graham Roberts took a victory lap on Twitter and aimed his comments at Sky Sports pundits, who he says for months were saying Kane would depart.

Roberts went on to say that these people should look for new jobs considering their sources failed to provide them with the correct information.

“All those pundits on Sky Sports who for three months have done nothing but say Harry Kane will leave Tottenham, you all need to get a new job as your sources are not very good. Well done, Harry Kane; you are loved by every fan at,” Roberts said.

Kane will now be part of a Tottenham squad that has won its first two fixtures and is off on the right foot as it looks to win some silverware and qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

I am bemused by all this. Why did Man City throw all their money at Grealish, who is a good player, when they needed a centre forward? For all their success, Aguero was a huge part of it and in my opinion Kane is a superior all round player, so he was going to make City better after Aguero packed his bags. One thing City did not need was a player to help keep the ball and create chances, but yet they sign Grealish. I cannot see him being a failure, but from a footballing perspective I cannot fathom why City didn’t go all in for Kane. Time will tell.

I could state the same for Man Utd signing Sancho. Did they need him ahead of a proven goal scorer? Are they relying on Greenwood to be that player, I definitely rate him, but signing Kane was a no brainer for Utd.

It turns out that Kane, who did want to leave, made a massive mistake in signing his last Spurs contract. In hindsight it was too long from his perspective but he could never have seen Covid rearing its head. Without Covid, clubs may well have paid Levy’s going rate, probably even last season, but here we all are. If we had sold Kane, could we have played Moneyball and got in 3 players that would have scored 25 and assisted 15? That would have been a big ask.

Keeping Kane should not disguise where we are as a club. We have been on a downward trajectory for nearly 4 seasons now and Levy has failed to do anything about it, unless signing Ndom is seen as a positive! Levy failed to build a team around Kane and I understand why he wanted to leave. I also fully understand that Spurs were not going to give Kane away, but by showing little intent to improve on last season how can we catch up to the top 4, even with Kane? Especially as we still need a centre forward, a proven right back, a proven centre half and a centre midfielder capable of keeping the ball. It is safe to assume that at present we are miles behind City, Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool, but football is a funny old game. We have to wait for one, possibly two to implode, but they all look stable so that is a big ask? There is no way everything will go swimmingly for the top 4 this season., so if we can be in the mix to exploit it then I’ll be happy.

Even after a bad season we were not far off West Ham (can they realistically repeat their feat of last season?) and Leicester, so 5th is a realistic target to start with. I’ll see what happens in the cups, can we get a better draw than last year’s Caffeine Cup? I just want to watch Spurs and have a sense of pride and not wince whenever the ball goes to anyone other than Kane or Son. Is that too much to ask for?

I despise sky and it’s style of broadcasting, their reporters speak in a manner that is sheer arrogance, as if they know everything, and yet invariably they are often left looking like idiots, but still have the audacity to defend their failures, I’m with Roberts on this one.

Tell us what “this Summer” means Harry – January or next Summer but the circus will begin again sometime.

So the pantomime finally ends. Pogba stays. Kane’s stays. As I said, not City’s year, the media got a summer of hits out of it though….
No reason City couldn’t get him. All a ruse. Laughable.

So we are happy because we have a player ( Kane). That tried everything to leave us but now that he realised he has lost his battle with levy ” decided” to stay because some spurs fans showed him support when he decided to play for ten minutes against wolves. Yeah right ….that’s why he changed his mind to stay.
