What Jose Mourinho Said About Kurt ZoumaIn August 2019 | video

By Joe Fish -

Jose Mourinho has allegedly added his former Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma to his list of possible signings for Tottenham this summer.

The Special One signed Zouma for Chelsea six years ago and RMC Sport in France reports he is now interested in bringing the 25-year-old to Spurs.

While the Zouma rumour does nothing for me personally, I want Jose to have the players he wants; and he is definitely a big fan of the Frenchman.

This is what he said about Zouma when imploring Frank Lampard to use the 6ft 2in centre-back, during his short tenure as a Sky Sports pundit at the beginning of this season.

Good in the air.. He can’t tackle though he barely made top 100 in prem in 19/20 season for his tackling averages.. Which is extremely poor stats considering hes a centre back… They have to be able to tackle, like a striker has to be able to score.

Good in the air, good at passing.. Not a great defender though for a centre back he can’t tackle, he doesnt dive into tackles yet still fouls alot… Hence being loaned out to stoke and everton. For the prem he’s bang average. We want better if verts is off. Toby and sanchez need someone who will push them for a place… Not zouma please.

I can’t see the chavs quoting a price for Zouma that would be acceptable to Levy,so he’s not coming, loved by Jose or not.
He’s good in the air is strong in the tackle, but can leave himself way out of position at times in his exhuberence. There are probably better targets out there.

I don’t see many incoming players without sales, Levy is naturally cautious with recruitment at the best of times, now I think he’ll hunker down and try to figure out where all this is going. He won’t make major financial commitments until he has a better sense of what the future holds. Why bring in new players on big wages when a wage cap could be introduced shortly?
