“What are you telling me makes no sense” Mourinho Defiant On Video

By The Boy -

For those amongst you struggling with where we are at right now with Mourinho (I sense there are a few) then this video isn’t going to make your life much easier. The point that the gaffer is making is that players he is selecting aren’t defensive, the selections are offensive. The issue is, as it was before Mourinho joined, that the players are serving up lacklustre performances. This is precisely what senior figures at Tottenham said after the Dinamo Zagreb game.

I think I’ve reached the point with this debate where it would be hilarious to see José quit and watch the next patsy work his magic with this ageing shower.

What Mourinho is saying to the media must be different to what he is telling the players. He cleverly points out that the team is an attacking line up, but the question he avoids answering is whether they are playing attacking football, which everyone can see that we clearly are not.
I maybe alone on this but the midfield is a big issue in our problems, it’s simply not good enough and too open, and the defence has crumbled from the amount of defending they have had to endure, which is poor anyway.

Agreed. Pep and Klopp identified the defense as the area that needs improving the most. Pep has spent a small country’s GDP on his back 4 over the years whilst Klopp looked at VVD and spent a world record fee, along with Alisson’s fee for GK.

When Walker left for £50m to Pep’s All Stars we spent less than half on Aurier. Upgrades simply do not happen at Spurs and it has kicked us in the teeth. When Aurier was finally seen as a disaster we got Doherty!

The problem has always been the quality of our defence. Great teams are built on great solid foundations. Our defense bar reg is a complete shambles that levy and Co have known for the last 3 years. The reason we come across as a defensive team even with 4/5 top attacking players is the fact noone trusts the defensive team. They drop deeper and deeper trying to protect the defence that they come across as counter attacking. This is not how Jose sets up his team or what he wants his players to do. Jose has made that perfectly clear but when you have a shambles of a defence players naturally drop deep to help out. This is a systemic problem caused by levy by not supporting the manager with transfers such as skrinaar. Build a solid defence like what poch had with trippier/walker Jan and Tobi and Rose and see us fly under Jose.
Continue to deny Jose or any manager support. Continue to undermine managers by interfering with team selection, transfers and players leaving you end up where we are. Players running the club and refusing to give a shit is what you get when realising the manager hasn’t any power as levy keeps undermining him. Doesn’t matter who is the manager if the club continues to be run by Levy like this. Levy has worked wonders in many aspects at the club but he’s not a footballing man he needs to bring in a director of football and keep his nose out

The beginning of the last act for Harry Rednapp was the NLD where we led 2-0 against the run of play before capitulating to a 5-2 thumping.

I, too, wonder whether anyone could really effect significant change with our lot. Refreshing the squad was badly needed in 2019 before Poch, previously despairing, finally departed the scene having been destroyed in every way by his genius chairman. I think the fixture we lost at home to the Wolves around the Christmas period that season was the commencement of the last act of Poch’s Spurs career.

Exactamundo.

I am prepared to believe that he picks a team that he wants to go out and have a go, but what Jose should answer is why those same players are playing with more fear against the bigger teams.
