Tottenham Hotspur is in a new project with Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici and manager Nuno Espírito Santo now at the helm. However, chairman Daniel Levy has remained in his position for 20 years, so he’s remained the constant figure through various club chiefs and managers.
Levy remaining at the helm through failed projects over the past 20 years resulted in Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp calling out the Tottenham chairman on the “Super Sunday” postgame. The English football pundit pointed out how many rebuilds Levy needs to win a trophy and build a squad that’s consistently contending for silverware.
“Now did you just say [Tottenham] are doing a rebuild? How many rebuilds has Daniel [Levy] had? I’ve lost count,” Redknapp said. “They haven’t won a trophy under his tenure. That’s not good enough; anybody else, any other chairman, would have been voted out or left.”
OK. Have a pleasant evening
What we don’t really want is another 20 years of this lot if there are better owners to be had. Alas, Levy’s asking price is likely to deter most, if not all, suitors.
And having snuffed out our dreams while simultaneously building up his own personal wealth, forgive me if I wish the little git wasn’t still around.
Excuse me, but it was YOU who originally introduced the IF in this current exchange of views. YOU asked whether Levy would have been a hero IF he had won all the finals we had lost! I merely responded to YOUR IF! With the IFS and ANDS removed, the one INDISPUTABLE fact remains, namely that in two decades of Levy and ENIC we have won ONE league Cup only!!
If ifs and ands were pots and pans we’d have no need for tinkers. Move on man. Banging on about stuff you can’t change is pointless
If some of the millions that went into capital assets had been spent on additional signings, we would likely have won some of those finals, been in even more finals and perhaps have become champions of England and Europe.Lost opportunities not likely to come around again under the present incumbents.
Actually, TWO constants in the last couple of decades: ENIC and FAILURE! (albeit some near misses that might have been turned into success…..but weren’t!
What’s the Standard Liege business, Eastie?
Guilty
If tottenham woulda won the six finals they’ve been in under enic would levy then be a hero?
Why does that bother you if you don’t mind me asking?
The standard liege thing is a fantastic move.
The easy summary of ENICs tenure:
So after 20 years of ENIC: club infrastructure now second-to-none. Five seasons of Champions League delivered (previous owners: zero). One trophy won.
The test of ENIC is now: they don’t have any excuses any more not to invest in the team. The training ground is done. The stadium is done. The club has been consistently near the top of the EPL for a decade and more. To build the commercial brand it needs a great story on the pitch….
Man City’s owners didn’t need to build a stadium – Manchester City Council did it for them. The same can be said of Newcastle.
Liverpool have no greater financial firepower than Tottenham, they do have a much richer history of trophies though.
At the moment, Liverpool are showing the way on the pitch. There’s no financial reason why Tottenham can’t do exactly the same. If they have the skills, the vision and the persistence.
If ENIC don’t have the desire or the skillset to do that, then they cannot be surprised if the fans say: ‘Thanks very much, but time to bring in someone who does….’
ENIC are and always will be an Asset/Property company. They invest in valuable stock and just look after the bottom line.
They have no interest in the supporters…..just the fanbase to exact more money.
W*nkers with no spine mate. Come on and stand by your bullsh*t, bring it! They just can’t, they aren’t intelligent enough. Not sure how they even manage to wipe their own backsides! 😂
ENIC have spare money to invest in Standard Liege yet not enough to stop the decay that has taken place over the last couple of years. Shameful self interest over the progress of the football team….
Just who are you negative ticking cowards?
How about offering a rebuttal instead of ticking a box. ?
Pundits have always been saying that he is a “responsible chairman” first and foremost over the years, Now I think they can see that it’s pointless peddling that line. Like they say, you cannot just continue to ‘rebuild’ for 23 years, it’s illogical. You just look like an idiot unless you smell a rat, and nobody wants to be made to look am idiot…
Now the pundits are calling him out on his bull and his failures. Hopefully the that speak the quicker he goes.
I said exactly the same thing weeks ago, Levy should have been forced out years ago.
