Just 13 minutes after drawing level, Spurs found themselves behind again in Istanbul as Victor Osimhen struck for Galatasaray.
The two sides — unbeaten in the Europa League so far this season — had already exchanged early goals thanks to a Yunus Akgun screamer and Will Lankshear’s first-ever senior strike.
However, it was Galatasaray who were clearly in control of the match and just moments after Osimhen had a goal disallowed for offside, the Nigeria international struck again to give his side the lead.
Victor Osimhen punishes sloppy Spurs
Radu Dragusin will be kicking himself after some awful defending, wiping out Mauro Icardi without getting the ball having lost possession himself in a dangerous area.
The loose ball fell to Dries Mertens, who fed Osimhen for a trademark one-on-one finish to beat Fraser Forster, with Ben Davies unable to recover the space left by Dragusin.

From sloppy play to dreadful defending, Spurs haven’t covered themselves in glory in Istanbul.
That hasn’t gone unnoticed by club legend Glenn Hoddle, watching on as a commentator for TNT Sports.
“The writing has been on the wall with the way Spurs are giving the ball away,” said Hoddle (via BBC Sport).
“You cannot do it at any level never mind at this level. A player like Victor Osimhen will finish those opportunities off.
“It was a clever finish and Fraser Forster could not react to it.
“Spurs have it all to do again.”
