Tottenham Hotspur fell 1-0 behind after just six minutes against Galatasaray but few will blame them after Yunus Akgun unleashed an incredible strike.
The Lilywhites went into the match protecting a 100% record in the Europa League so far after beating Qarabag, Ferencvaros and AZ Alkmaar previously.
But an away trip to any of the Istanbul giants is never a fun task, not least when Galatasaray remained unbeaten themselves after three games with two wins and a draw.
And after some early smatterings of pressure from Spurs, it was the hosts who drew first blood.
Spurs behind after incredible Yunus Akgun strike
Archie Gray managed to head a Galatasaray free-kick to the edge of the box but could only find Akgun, who was far quicker to react to the loose ball than teenage striker Will Lankshear.
Akgun lit rip first time, firing the ball perfectly into the far corner from 20 yards out, leaving stand-in goalkeeper Fraser Forster with absolutely no chance.
It was a strike that left Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle stunned.
“Wonderful strike,” he said on commentary for TNT Sport (via BBC Sport).
Hoddle added: “Yunus Akgun is running away from goal and it’s a beautiful strike. Fraser Forster cannot get his feet across, what a start for Galatasaray – that has come out of the blue.”
