Two Tweets that perfectly sum up the state of Pochettino to Tottenham rumours

By Bruce Grove -

The biggest problem with rumours is who to believe and who to disregard and under normal circumstances, it is fairly easy to determine bull from reality but not so much with the Mauricio Pochettino rumours.

Remember, the very first source of the Poch rumours was The Sun.

Easy to disregard, right? I mean, it is the notorious liars The Sun, how can they be believed?

Well, no one did for a couple of days until Sky Sports News and Jack Pitt Brook confirmed it separately, then all of a sudden the rumour had some credibility and everyone and their uncle ran with it, including the likes of the BBC.

Since then it has been manic with rumour and counter rumour coming from every orifice of the media circus.

Yesterday was a beauty for the wild speculation and two tweets just about summed up the state of the Chinese whispers pervading the rumour mill.

The first came from Goal.com, fairly reliable I would suggest, certainly more so than the Daily Star and the Daily Mail.

Wow, Goal can confirm, that is what one calls going out on a limb.

But then we have this one from blue ticked Julian Froment

Which has since been taken on by none other than Fabrizio Romano who tweeted the translated version and citing Mr Froment.

So, Goal says Poch has told PSG he wants out while Leonardo is being reported to have said that PSG has triggered the extra year on his contract and that they are very happy with him.

In the meantime, Poch odds being the next Spurs manager remain odds on with the bookies.

Quite true but i’d love to see Pep do something without Messi, an established pedigree squad or a chairman with deep pockets

It’s the self delusion of fans that allows stories like this to run. They are so desperate they’ll believe anything.

If someone planted a story that Guardiola was tired of City and fancied a really momentous challenge to prove he could work miracles without bags of gold and he was going to Spurs, people would swallow it.

They’re in a mess: received a ST renewal email chaser Saturday showing an incorrect credit balance of £900 odd quid followed an hour later by a correction confirming there was still £900 quid to pay to renew – I’m still waiting for an answer from enic as to whether they will be refunding the 20% advance payment against a possible renewal, which they retained last season, if i don’t renew

Why would Conté come here to play in the Europa Conference League? It’s like Prince George agreeing to work for Baldrick.
Truth is, our stock has plummeted and nobody with any kudos, as long as there are better options out there, is coming to Hotspur Way anytime soon.

& there’s some South American journo who’s stated MP’s ‘entourage’ have confirmed he’s staying at PSG.
Hope it’s true.

If you want bringing back down to earth with sceptical but realistic views then visit HH. I hate it but I’ve been coming here for years, the bastard.

God I hope Poch returns and ENIC’s ethos is changed but my head says that will not happen.

Have we not been here before?
Around ST renewal time we always get the stories. Poch coming back, Grealish, Dybala etc etc. All stories put out by the ENIC PR machine (you know the ones that were going through West Hams rubbish bins)
Or Half cocked attempts designed to fail (well we tried really hard!)

I’m calling their bluff on my ST renewal.

And Conte? Any real legs to that? Rumors rumble on (including that he has been ruled out of Real Madrid now)

Truth is when the season ends Spurs fans can really enjoy themselves. We can have our favorite fantastic rumours and not have to face reality by looking at results.

I have called it. Poch makes no sense whatsoever. I think Levy’s in trouble. ST renewals close on the 5th.

PSG triggering the contract extension early is either just a negotiating tactic to ensure compensation or they genuinely do want to keep him.

With Conte and Zidane both looking for work though, there’s little point in keeping a manager who might not necessarily want to be there when they have replacements available with far more of a track record than Pochettino.
