Transfer insider claims Tottenham star could follow Conte out the door – club already looking for replacement

According to transfer insider Dean Jones, Tottenham will keep the option of selling Hugo Lloris open in the summer.

The Frenchman has not had the best of the season making a number of mistakes that has led to Spurs conceding some crucial goals.

His performances have prompted a lot of criticism from fans and pundits alike with the likes of Garth Crooks going as far as stating that Spurs will not win anything with Lloris in goal, urging the club to sell him.

And now Dean Jones has claimed that Hugo Lloris could “follow Antonio Conte out of the door” in the summer.

Speaking in an interview with GIVEMESPORT, Jones suggested that Lloris could “follow Antonio Conte out of the door” in the summer. Tottenham is reportedly on the lookout for a new goalkeeper, and Jones believes that Lloris is unlikely to be the club’s number-one choice beyond the summer.

Jones believes that Tottenham could use Lloris’ situation as a “clean slate” and move forward with a new goalkeeper.

Discussing the veteran goalkeeper’s future, Jones said:

“It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Lloris did end up following Conte out the door.

“We know that they’re on the lookout for a new goalkeeper at the moment and the final decision on Lloris’ future is not yet made.

“But I think it almost makes sense that you start to use this situation as a clean slate.”

Hugo Lloris has been out injured since early February after picking up a knee injury during their win over Manchester City. He was ruled out for six to eight weeks. However, he is now back in training, but will be unlikely to take part in the game against Everton on Monday night.

In his absence, summer signing Fraser Forster stepped up and has done a remarkable job. This could make this a tough decision for interim manager Cristian Stellini who will have to decide whether to stick with Forster or give the captain his place back despite his poor form.
