Transfer fee revealed for Tottenham target just the wages to be sorted now

By Bruce Grove -

Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Real Madrid is now ready to let Gareth Bale leave the Bernabeu this summer for a fraction of the fee that was paid to sign him.

The Welshman left Tottenham for a world record fee of around 100 million euros in 2013. After winning every trophy in club football with Los Blancos, he is no longer considered an important member of the team by current manager, Zinedine Zidane.

The Frenchman has told Bale that he can leave and that he doesn’t feature in his plans, but there has been a shortage of takers due to Madrid’s insistence on getting a transfer fee and the player not willing to lower his wages.

This latest report from Spain indicates that Madrid now knows that they cannot get close to the amount that they paid to sign him and they are prepared to allow him to leave them for 25 million euros this summer.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Bale and Harry Redknapp even urged them to sign him because he will make them a top team again, but it remains unclear if Bale will lower his current wages of around £18.2 million per season (Wales Online).

He’ll see out his contract and leave on a free for MLS. Nobody will pay him £650k a week, especially in a post-covid world, and he has no reason to drop his salary demands so the status quo will remain for the next few years.

Yeah but just think about those free kicks he took for us before leaving. The ball was like a magnet to the part of the goal where the goalkeeper wasn’t. I miss those.

But Kane’s still taking all the penalties.

I think Bale would turn a below average transfer window into a top one if he still has the desire to show the world what he is capable of.

Madrid have said that they will not subsidise any of his wages – his wages is precisely why they want rid – hence the ridiculously low transfer fee. Unless Gareth cuts his wage demands at least in half (cough) this is not happening. Not today, not tomorrow, never.

That could explain it. Not sure I understand why – who else refers to their pay after tax? I don’t even know what mine is after tax!

Some reports have it at £600,000 per week before tax, others have it at £350,000 after tax.

Whenever I read a story about Bale his wages change. One day it’s £600k pw then it’s £500k pw, now it’s 350k (18.2m)! When will we know for sure?!
