Tottenham legend jumps on the bandwagon after Everton loss

By Bruce Grove -

Glenn Hoddle has become the latest individual to slam Tottenham for their opening day loss to Everton in the Premier League.

Spurs didn’t play well enough and Everton earned a deserved 1-0 win thanks to a fine header from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Lilywhites had looked set for a fine start to the season after adding the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty to their starting XI.

However, Everton would control the game and get the important goal that earned them the points.

Hoddle reckons that Spurs’ performance in that game will be of concern, especially the management of Jose Mourinho.

He insisted that the North London side lacked creativity and imagination and the result was fair on the visitors who had a better game and deserved to win.

Speaking on The Hodcast, the former Spurs midfielder and manager said:

“What happened will have concerns for Jose and concerns for every Spurs fan.

“There was no creativity and no imagination.

“It wasn’t like ‘Wow, we were a bit unlucky, we created eight or nine chances’. Everton deserved to win, no doubt about it.

“Not only did we lose three points at home in the opening game but they started poorly.

“So the pressure builds up for the next game, because the way they lost will bring concerns.”

Tottenham wants to enter the top four by the end of this season and that was probably the worst possible start.

But there is still a long way to go and the Lilywhites will look to get back to winning ways when the Premier League returns this weekend.

No. For slating the club all the time in the name of the people who don’t play football. (The money people) and for backing the previous manager more than the current one.

No, he was sacked because top 4 looked unlikely. It became no more likely after Jose arrived, Daniel took punt and it didn’t work.
Stuck with him now for a bit, let’s see what he can do now he gets a player like Bale back in. Probably a lot better than without Bale I would imagine…

Cups on offer during his time at Tottenham? About 30. Cups won during his time at Tottenham? About none. THIS IS WHY HE WAS SACKED. you can dress it up as much as you like.

Poch got sacked because top 4 for 3out of 4 yrs was not enough to prise open the ENIC cheque book. Jose was brought in to appease Amazon.

Poch didn’t get sacked for prioritising top 4, Levy brought Jose to try and get top 4, he was on a massive bonus invective to do it. He didn’t get his bonus…

Funny… It’s ok to “target” top 4 under Jose but poch got sacked for consistently doing just that.

Who’s this fella to be offering an opinion? Seems to have conveniently forgotten all the creativity and imagination displayed in the post lockdown games.
