Tottenham Hotspur winger admits desire to leave the north London club this summer

By Eddie Razo -

Recently Netherlands national team boss Louis van Gaal stated that winger Steven Bergwijn needed to leave Tottenham Hotspur as soon as possible.

As a result, to make sure he could get the playing time to lock down a spot on the squad for the FIFA World Cup later this year, the 25-year-old might be listening to his manager.

In an interview with Dutch outlet AD, Bergwijn admitted his desire to leave the north London club this summer amid reports suggesting that Ajax is in talks with Spurs over a possible deal to land the winger.

“I just need to go play. I want to leave Spurs now, that’s for sure,” Bergwijn said, per The Sun. “Is it important that my new club plays in the Champions League? That’s not my top priority. It would be nice, but what’s important is that I’m going to play.”

“I wasn’t allowed to leave Spurs in the winter and then I didn’t have any problems. But for the last few months, I was hardly looked after there. I want to go and play somewhere weekly. It would be nice if there was clarity soon. My situation now has to be different.”

It’s clear that Bergwijn doesn’t want to be at Tottenham and the Premier League side knows it will be taking a loss on its initial investment. Furthermore, Spurs should look to wrap up a deal who doesn’t want to be there and doesn’t seem to be part of manager Antonio Conte’s plans.

Ajax might not be looking to increase their offer of £18-million with these public remarks knowing the player wants to leave.

We probably paid too much, and players who spent most of the last two years on the bench don’t always fetch premium prices…

Most of the pre-Conte transfer business was awful. Just can’t see Levy taking a hit and getting rid of the deadwood quickly.

Hopefully Levy will get rid quickly to allow Conte to bring in new faces with sufficient time to bed in. Hope springs eternal.

Romano reporting that Spurs want 30 million euro for Stevie B and there are several interested parties other than Ajax.

Ajax trying to get him on the cheap.

I would keep Stevie (1) because I like him and (2) just to spite van Gaal who wants him to leave because LVG sucks.

The fact that only Ajax are in for him tells you all you need to know…

Yet another transfer that has been a complete waste of everybody’s time including his. I wish him well but a poor signing, a poor fit and not of the required quality to improve us. Bit like Moura, who also needs to go…

I’d be sad to see Stevie go , players like him with explosive pace and no shortage of skill are not easy to come by and to consider replacing him with ………………….Adama Traore ? Seems illogical , but I have implicit trust in Mr Conte , he’s paid to make the right decisions , I’m pretty sure he’ll get the call[s] right ………… C O Y S !!!!!!11111

Fair play. Let him go. Should get good money for him. He should get more game time… and he is clearly not a major cog in the Conte Machine
