Tottenham have not finished with their goalkeeping business after signing Joe Hart

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is set to confirm the signing of former Manchester City goalkeeper, Joe Hart, but the Englishman will not be the only goalkeeping business they will perform this summer.

Football insider claims that after the Englishman joins Spurs on a two-year deal that the Lilywhites will also hand out a new long-term contract to their current number one, Hugo Lloris.

Lloris has been Spurs’ first choice since he joined the Lilywhites in 2012 and his current deal is set to expire in 2022.

The club, however, has so much faith in the World Cup winner that they want to offer him an extension that will see him stay with them beyond that time.

He hasn’t been in the best of form lately and he was absent for an extended period of time through injury last season.

However, he remains a key part of the team and Jose Mourinho is happy to still work with him into the future.

Michel Vorm had been the club’s third-choice goalkeeper for a very long time, but he was released at the end of last season, a decision that opened up space for another keeper.

Hart will become the club’s third-choice after he was released by Burnley recently and he will hope to usurp Paulo Gazzaniga for the second choice position.

Spot on.. Joe would have to be outstanding in training to get in front of Gazza.. Injuries do happen though. Top clubs need three keepies.

Yep he went from being third best in the league up to second best thanks to De Geas drop of form…. He is the best shot stopper for me because some of his saves he has no right to get to. Worldies as some describe. His ‘coming out for corners’ and distribution has improved over time.. Loyal since Bale was with us 2013. Got to love Hugo.

Hart is a very good buy, He’s going to be back-up, either 3rd or- if he works hard and impresses the coaches- 2nd choice. He has home grown status and there is no transfer fee involved.

He didn’t let many in since lockdown and two that he did were unstoppable, one against Arsenal, one against Newcastle, also Utd took a penalty to get past him in the last minutes. He made some crucial saves helping us to finish sixth.

Lloris was excellent in the second half of the season and the stats back that up. He’s still one of the best. He is worth his spot for a few more seasons in my opinion.

Disagree. Ok he is passed his best. We know that but taking positives it’s a cunning acquisition not least for his experience and winner of silverware with Citeh!!

How far has Hart’s star fallen? A good shot stopper on his day, but tell me a keeper who isn’t. Not a modern keeper, whereby he can’t play, but Jose isn’t one for playing from the back. He is experienced but won’t push Lloris or Gazza. Easy money for Joe as he won’t play a game.
