Newcastle United have become the latest team to show interest in Leicester City’s Demarai Gray and the Magpies will be keen to beat Tottenham to his signature.
The Times had earlier reported that Jose Mourinho is a fan of the Englishman and he will look to bring him to Tottenham.
However, a new report from the Telegraph is claiming that the Lilywhites will now have to battle with Newcastle United for his signature.
It claims that Steve Bruce likes the winger and wants to add him to his team.
Gray was expected to be a success in the Premier League when he joined Leicester City from Birmingham in 2016.
But he has struggled to create or score goals since then and has now entered the final year of his current deal.
Spurs will look to add some more quality players to their team when the transfer window reopens and Gray will represent a very good backup to Son Heung-min.
However, given that he has struggled for game time at Leicester in recent seasons, it remains unclear if he will want to join Spurs where he will almost certainly be a squad player again.
That said, he will probably be available fairly cheaply and that is the sort of market Tottenham have to look in at this moment in time.
That actually might be an improvement.
Swap him for winks
Can he play LB/RB/DM?
Not a priority another winger, and if we upgrade our fullbacks to two who can cross the ball then we will have enough width. If we do add one the Watford player Ismaila Sarr is strong and pacy.
IF we are going budget, I’d take Redmond from Southampton instead.
Oh dear now we’re competing with a team like Newcastle for a bang average Leicester reject. How the mighty have fallen. He’s done f all at Leicester and can’t get in the team. Sounds just like a discount Danny transfer. Spurs are becoming like what was once a fine brandy that has been diluted with too much water.
Why do we have to look at buying cheap rejects? We’re one of the richest clubs in Europe. My god Levy’s propaganda machine, no doubt fuelled by Donna Cullen, is easily swallowed by some mugs isn’t it?
