Tottenham among four clubs expressing interest in €32M rated defender

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur is interested in Bologna F.C. 1909 defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, but the Premier League club could be looking to add another central defender this summer.

Téléfoot journalist Julien Maynard reports that Tottenham is among four clubs wanting to land Chelsea FC defender Kurt Zouma. AS Roma, Everton, and Wolverhampton Wanderers are the other three reportedly interest in the 26-year-old defender.

Zouma would help potentially fill two needs for Tottenham, considering that the France international can play right-back along with his preferred role as a central defender.

The report doesn’t state what Chelsea would want for the defender when it comes to the possible cost. However, Roma would like to secure a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Meanwhile, Transfermarkt places Zouma’s transfer value at €32-million, indicating what Chelsea could want for their defender. Nonetheless, with two other Premier League clubs expressing interest, the sum could be a bit higher.

Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen are in line for contract extensions. At the same time, César Azpilicueta nor Thiago Silva are both north of 30, and Reece James’ future could also be at center-back. There’s a log jam at central defense, so Zouma could be available for the right price if Tottenham wants to meet it.

Is he a major upgrade on what we already have? Strikes me as rather error prone.
