Tottenham Hotspur wants to improve its backline this summer, and they already made an offer for Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu. However, the English club saw an €18 million proposal rejected by Bologna F.C. 1909.
Nonetheless, it appears as though Tottenham is ready to make another bid for the 22-year-old defender, considering Arsenal is among the clubs also eyeing Tomiyasu.
According to Corriere di Bologna (via Sports Lens), Tottenham plans to return with a higher bid next week for Tomiyasu. There’s no further detail on what the amount will be that Spurs intends to offer.
Still, expect one to be north of €20-million, especially since two Premier Leagues are involved, so look for Bologna to try and squeeze out as much money.
The Bologna defender can play various roles on the backline, from right-back to central defender, and he’s even seen time as a defensive midfielder, but his preferred position is center-back.
Tomiyasu started all 31 of his Serie A appearances for Bologna. On the defensive side, Sofa Score states that the defender won 2.4 (55-percent) of his ground duels and 2.9 (58-percent) when it came to his aerial duels.
Furthermore, the 22-year-old averaged 1.7 interceptions, 3.3 clearances, and 1.5 tackles per game.
No idea of the Latin but this should be our new motto.
Pilkington optilam and all that
For goodness sake he’s only 17m odd, get him onboard and on the training ground and stop faffing about over a few quid.
Glass houses and all that?
As usual levy trying everything to save a million or 2…then another team comes up and buys him from under his nose.
