Darren Bent says Tottenham is too reliant on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, and that teams will find ways to nullify both players.
Son and Kane have scored a majority of Tottenham’s goals this season, and they have driven the club’s recent success.
Both players are reliable, but when they have struggled in games, the goals hardly come from elsewhere.
Bent referenced the Chelsea game when the Blues managed to keep both players quiet, Spurs didn’t have an alternative goal threat and he says they will struggle if they don’t start getting goals out of other players.
It isn’t easy to stop Kane and Son from making an impact, but teams are doing their homework very well before each game, and when they are neutralised, Spurs might struggle to get goals.
Bent told Football Insider: “It’s not a secret. Son and Kane are outstanding. They’re the only real goal threat that they have.
“I remember the Chelsea game, where they completely nullified Kane and Son and they had nothing more to offer. They’ve brought Bale in and we thought he’d be the answer but it doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen.
“Bergwijn hasn’t scored a goal all season and Lucas Moura doesn’t really get too many opportunities.
“It’s not like they haven’t got really good players, but they don’t have firepower everywhere.
“Other teams will be looking at that and thinking that if they can stop Kane and Son then there’s no reason they can’t get something from the game.
“Someone has got to come up with some kind of goal threat. When you get too reliant on one player or two players, teams will go out of their way to stop them.”
Kane and Son have 12 goals each from 18 Premier League games this season.
