These Tottenham fans ignore Man of the Match list and instead nominate these two

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham’s fans are delighted by the impact Antonio Conte is making at the club, and a number of them named him as the Man of the Match following the 2-1 win over Leeds United earlier today.

The Italian has overseen two wins and a draw in his opening three competitive matches as boss.

The comeback win against Leeds this evening is arguably the most impressive so far considering the manner of the win.

Tottenhams’ first-half performance in the game looked like they would put in yet another depressing performance.

However, the second half was much better as the Lilywhites came from a goal down to eventually win the game.

It’s clear to see that the players were responding to whatever Conte had told them at halftime.

Tottenham nominated Hugo Lloris, Lucas Moura, Sergio Reguilon and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for their Man of the Match award on Twitter.

Some fans ignored the nominated players and voted for Conte in the comments.

Eric Dier also impressed others, and they thought he deserved the award. Here is a sample of the responses:

Lucas was involved in everything 2nd half, many chances including Kane’s and the equaliser of course.

Son, Moura and Kane were all marked out of it. You can never doubt Moura’s effort and his pace, it’s his composure in front of goal that lets him down as well him being quite one dimensional with his running.

To me, Dier is a player that needs to be thrown in with the lions to fully wake up and function. He seems to lose focus when he’s not in the battle and gets mugged mostly when he feels comfortable in a game. Just my take on it.

Thats why I thought midfield suited him because you’re in there scrapping more.

I thought Dier played ok. Generally i don’t like the way he defends, he can switch off too easily. I do like Moura a lot but felt he was marked out of the game yesterday, as was Son.
My man of the match is Reggie, love his attitude. I hope he can recapture that for he had before joining Spurs.

It was a tough game yesterday. I thought Leeds played really well and we looked very nervous in the first half.
Conte has a lot of work to do. It seems he needs to improve their fitness, confidence and mental toughness. So far so good. Loving the passion from him.

Lucas was my MOM, although I thought Eric Dier, to be fair to him, had a decent game. However yes, the real MOM was Antonio Conte! (More passion than the whole team combined!)

Dier was very good today but if you are a good player, can you not play well in any formation?
I watched Reggie being interviewed by Sky Sports after getting MOM and I was very impressed by his personality. Seems like a genuinely good guy.

Conte’s system could benefit Dier more than any other Spurs player.

The smiles from the two approaching each other after…Conte sees a potential leader and Dier is on board.

Still, same thing happened early with Jose and Dier, but this time he has to find consistency and keep building that air of leadership and calm. Hope it works out this time.
