“There’s pressure…” but does Tottenham’s board understand just who is to blame?

Spurs’ performances and results have been abysmal, but this isn’t a new thing. Ange Postecoglou oversaw some of the worst football in the club’s history. Yes, the Australian won a European trophy, but he also oversaw a 22-game loss that broke not only club records, but Premier League records. Tottenham were the closest to being relegated in my lifetime of 40 years as being fan. Fabrizio Romano understands that there are internal discussions underway:

“There’s pressure, there are internal talks, but still waiting to see results improving. Thomas Frank knows that the rhythm must change soon.”

Thomas Frank’s future at Tottenham Hotspur is currently uncertain and under significant pressure as of mid-December 2025. He was appointed in June 2025, replacing Ange Postecoglou on a contract until 2028, after guiding Brentford to consistent mid-table Premier League finishes.

However, after around 16 Premier League games into the 2025-26 season, Spurs sit in mid-table (around 11th-12th place) with poor recent form, including multiple losses and a heavy defeat to Nottingham Forest. This has led to fan frustration over the lack of progress in style of play and results, with betting odds shortening on him being the next manager sacked.

Frank has publicly stated there is “no quick fix” and emphasised the need for time to turn things around, expressing confidence that the board will support him. Despite this, reports indicate discussions inside the club about his position, with potential replacements like Xavi being mentioned in media speculation. Compared to Postecoglou’s tenure (which ended controversially after a Europa League win but dismal league form), Frank’s start has shown similar struggles in domestic consistency.

Where does the blame lie?

Given that Daniel Levy was recently ejected from his position as Director, the club simply cannot sweep this under the carpet. Being frustrated is one thing, but shouting for the next coach’s head is neither informed nor helpful.

Blaming a manager who did not hire any of the team’s players, then whining becuase the results are on par with the last manager’s? That’s nonsensical.

Bring in Klopp, in fact, let’s also hire Poch while we’re at it. Maybe we need two coaches, or perhaps three are required. I’m sure the Premier won’t mind us breaking another record.
