There is one big reason why Tottenham new boy is good for the team

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has just completed the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and he is one player that good performances are expected of in the new season.

The Dane had been on the books of Southampton from 2016 before joining Spurs this summer.

He has been hailed by his new manager and even Eric Dier, he has also earned some praise from someone he fell out with in the past.

His former national team manager, Age Hareide has just revealed why he is the perfect fit for Tottenham now.

Hareide fell out with the former Bayern Munich man in 2016 after taking him off in an international game.

The midfielder missed around two years of international football because of that bust-up, however, Hareide has admitted that he is a different player now and will be helpful to Spurs because he is now more of a team player.

“He became more than a team player and that was important to me,” Hareide explained in an interiew this week with Norwegian media outlet Nettavisen.

“He may have thought a bit individually at first, he was concerned with himself, but he is a very good team player now.

“I think players often change a lot with experience and age. Then you realize that the team is the most important thing to be good yourself, and not the other way around.”

“I reckon that Mourinho intends to use him when he has invested in him,” he added.

“He is a robust player. He’s good with the ball.

“He has been very good in Southampton and was captain of the team there – that says it all.

“He has gradually begun to gain some international experience.

“He is an experienced player who is good at a lot – both dueling games, passing games and technique. He is a very skilled player.”
