‘the information I’m getting is…’ – Sky Sports reporter provides an update on Tottenham’s 25-year-old target.

By Mehdi Gokal -

Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports News has claimed that if Tottenham Hotspur were seriously interested in James Maddison, they would have made a move for him by now.

Maddison has been linked with the two North London clubs all summer and as of recently, Newcastle United have registered their interest in him as well. However, Spurs insider Dean Jones has recently claimed that the player will prefer a move to the Spurs.

Despite all the recent reports, Sheth believes Spurs will not act on their interest unless there is a change in their strategy. While speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, he said:

“You’d have to say that if Tottenham were really, really serious about going for James Maddison, given the way that they’ve done their business so far in this transfer window, for someone that would command such a high transfer fee as Maddison, would they not have gone for him already?

“Unless they’re now looking at the squad and thinking ‘look, second wave, let’s just go and try and get him’.

“At the moment, the information I’m getting is that there’s not that interest in Maddison just now.

“Look, we’ve still got three weeks left – that can change.”

Leicester City’s player of the year was directly involved in 30 goals last year and on paper, he would be an excellent signing for Spurs since he is the sort of creative midfielder Spurs are lacking at the moment. But perhaps, the £60m price tag has made Spurs hesitant in making the move.

at large of the Internet has claimed that this report is utter nonsense. With 3 weeks until the window closes we’re now firmly in Levy Time, Aganst all odds, Conte has gotten most of his needs met – backup GK, leftfooted CB, left wingback, amother attacker and depth in mf. Seems he still wants another attacker – Zaniolo- and maybe someone better than Lenglet- but generally needs met.

So now it’s Levy Time where our leader tries to pawnoff deadwood to desperate teams and secure a bargain or 2 if possible. Should Leicester decide to cash in or need funds for another buy, we’ll be in for Madds if the price is right.

It’s that simple.

Leicester are obviously strapped for cash as they have signed not one player. If Levy is playing the waiting game this won’t work because Leicester will need time to buy a replacement. I like Maddison, even if his attitude is a bit suspect. He would offer a very different option to our midfield/attack if needed.

Without any experience of negotiating a transfer I would offer £40m and throw Winks and Lo Celso on a year loan (option to buy). Everyone’s winner! I know Lo Celso is wanted by Fiorentina and Villareal, but one can dream.

Slightly annoying that. You have to go to ‘Home’ to see latest blogs!

Ordinarily he would be a good addition to the squad, but is he really a Conte-type player? It seems to me if that were the case a more positie move would have happened before now.

Incidentally H,is it just me or is the “Latest Blog” page not refreshing to show the latest posts. It seems I have to search various pages to find links to the new additions.
