Insider claims in-demand Premier League star ‘wants to join Tottenham’

Journalist and Spurs insider Dean Jones has claimed that James Maddison will prefer a move to the North London club amid recent reports of a Newcastle also interested in him.

According to recent reports by The Telegraph, Newcastle submitted a £40m bid for the Leicester star but saw their offer being swiftly rejected as they are looking for a fee of around £60m for the in-demand Englishman.

Dean Jones, while speaking on The Done Deal Show to discuss the future of Maddison in view of new suitors, claimed that despite other offers, ‘Tottenham and their rivals Arsenal’ remains his preferred destination.

He said: “I don’t get any signs so far that James Maddison actually wants to join Newcastle. From what I hear, James Maddison wants to join Tottenham or Arsenal. So if he’s going to leave Leicester, one of those two need to come forward and make an offer.”

Newcastle’s interest in James Maddison should be alarming for Spurs since the Toons have recently acquired the resources and the aspirations to buy top players. But Spurs still have the advantage over others as they can offer the Englishman Champions League football.

Where would he actually play though?

THIS is my biggest concern, I fail to understand why we haven’t addressed this as one of the biggest priorities.

And so it begins, “lucky” to get a point at home to Southampton – you’ll fit right in here!

18 goals last season…Maddison. Spurs fans think there is a separate market just for players who should come to Spurs …Maddison is quality ..maybe you think he is overpriced because he plays for Leicester..who knows ..how much are Winks Reg Royal Doherty NDembele LoCelso worth . The clubs problem no one else’s..

We still haven’t even got a decent right wingback either, Doherty and Royal start the season as Spurs players. They were both the first names on everyone’s ‘to be sold’ list of those involved under Conte. Yet here we are… 🤔

18 goals and 12 assists in all comps in an injury hit season.. We haven’t had a midfielder with that sort of output since Tintin in his pomp. Would love him in a Spurs shirt. Not sure he fits Conte’s system though.

One of the greatest mysteries of football.. He can take a penalty which is a dead ball.. But can’t take a free kick to save his life.. I can’t understand it. It must be a mental thing.

Not worth £60m that’s why. He good, but he’s not elite and that sort of money is elite bracket. Makes you wonder who thought N’domdodo was worth £50+ million. Someone really did one on Levy that day.

I’d prefer Tielamans if we were raiding Leics for a player. Shoulda signed him first time round.

I bet he does…. But Conte won’t want him thank goodness… Another overrated player… At his price now you’d have to be Mad Son!

Add on Romeros transfer fee soon to be announced and that 150 mil has all but gone.. Left with 5 million… We’ve sold Stevie Burgers for 26million. Rodons just a loan so nothing there yet.. So judging on the 150 mil and transfers alone there is only about 30million.. The rest available will be down to profit from match day income, Champions League money, stadium profits, music concerts etc, balanced with all the the outgoings, debt repayments, stadium costs, staff wages etc, which none of us know until the figures are released at the end of the financial year.
We have almost enough players to pick 3 teams now. Surely we will have to sell some now… Having Ndombolloks at the club taking almost a million a month in wages is definitely a problem.

Richarlison is less injury prone, runs harder, and can legitimately play across the front three, providing the long wished for backups to Kane and Son. Madison is an above average schemer with a wildly inflated price due to the english player premium. If it is a choice between one and the other (why would it be, when they play different positions?) then we made the right choice.

In the same place as the £350 million a week for the NHS the Brexit bus promised. In the cloud probably 😀

Leicester are looking for £60m so I suspect we will need to offload Ndombele, LoCelso and Winks before we can even entertain a bid for Maddison.

Yep that is a point ,whatever is in the kitty Levy will want to sell a few before just to be well ,,,Levy .

£60m would have been better spent on him than Richarlison. Whilst we are interested in Zaniolo (on loan perhaps) he’s still be a punt. Whereas Maddison has proved he can do it in the Prem and needs no acclimatization. He’s also nearing the peak of his career. Citeh, Scouse or United even would just sign him, whereas Levy is still haggling a deal. It’s why any talk of title ambitions is still some way off.

Even Bissouma knocked in 4 out of 5 free kicks in a training session. The 5th hitting the crossbar. I am curious how many Kane managed. World class striker but a free kick taker and a corner taker he aint. I hope the new set piece coach has a word to say also

Even if we do sign him, Kane will still be slamming free kicks into spurs players’ faces every other week from 25 yards.

Agreed. We have no creativity in midfield nor do we have a dead ball specialist. We have to sign him. He would make our transfer window decent, as we haven’t signed anyone of great quality so far. I don’t understand why we aren’t biting Leicesters hands off I guess Its because he doesn’t have any Italian connection.

Conte will have to change his system some what to fit him in but you see what happened last season and on Sunday with the low block park the bus style which 50% of opposing teams in the league will try .
Get him in if the moneys there ,increases the homegrown quota and can actually take a free kick.
His stats last year were decent and at 25 years old in his prime you would think.
