One of the toughest persons to negotiate with is Tottenham’s Daniel Levy and his penchant for wanting to get the best side of every deal might see Tottenham miss out on the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Everton.
The Dane is one of Jose Mourinho’s top summer targets and Southampton is happy to do a deal over his transfer.
He has been stripped of the club’s captaincy after he told them that he would like to move to a bigger team.
Tottenham is his preferred destination (HITC), but the Lilywhites face strong competition from Everton, who have reportedly submitted a bid for him.
Standard Sports claims that Southampton has given Tottenham 48 hours to improve their offer or they will start negotiating with Everton.
The same report claims that the Toffees have made an offer of around £20 million, before add-ons.
Tottenham’s Kyle Walker-Peters is currently on loan at Southampton and he might be added in any offer that Spurs make for the midfielder.
With Hojbjerg already in the final year of his current deal, Levy will look to force Southampton into accepting a cut-price fee for him, but Everton could take advantage of that and land the former Bayern Munich man instead.
Levy needs to be careful here, missing out on players that Mourinho apparently wants is hardly going to help to turn Spurs into genuine contenders for silverware next season.

😂
Don’t forget the empty trophy cabinet for his toys.
I don’t see why everyone thinks its imperative to sign this guy.
He’s NOT that good!
Very average player. He gets “stuck in”…that’s about it. With this element of his game he also gives up a lot of free kicks in dangerous areas.
His passing is poor. Mainly square and back.
Have you ever wondered why non of the other so called “bigger clubs” are not interested in signing him.
I think this is just a guise to hit out at Levy if this deal doesn’t go through.
That’s why it’s being pushed on social media.
When the real reason is…he just isn’t good enough for an ambitious club.
He’s Winks with a tackle.
Average!
He’ll surely accept half the salary that Everton will offer, after seeing our training ground and cheese room!
I expect another imminent low ball bid for Grealish once Villa go down, although not a really Jose player, too much flair…
Dybala, Fernandes, Coutinhio… etc etc..
In this case I’m not that bothered, heard today that Saints want something like 35m!?
Seeing as Levy will give Jose about four pence to spend this summer I suggest we get more bang for our buck possibly?
Plus, he looks knackered in that photo…
Does not really mean a lot he is protecting himself. If the move to us does not work out he has Everton. Like I said before the player will only sign for who he wants to play for. Now the questions are does he want to play for us and do we want him if so it will play out Levy style we get the player for a price Levy likes.
That’s how Levy plays.
I’ll never forget. I’m beginning to think we were never interested in Hojbjerg.
Remember Willian ?
It’s not even clear whether Spurs actually put in a bid, maybe our real target was someone else.
The Liverpool Echo ran a story saying the player does not want to go to Everton, this was after the bid of £25m had been excepted. The boot room going with the same.
Too late, he’s agreed terms with Everton.
This is disappointing if true, he really fit the bill. But if he didn’t want to come to Spurs then we’re better off without him. Don’t know where this story came from that he wanted to come to Spurs came from. Obviously a load of rubbish.
If he has already had the tour with Jose and wants Spurs it’s more likely he will hold out for the move, unless Spurs themselves have moved on to another target.
£15M plus KWP = £25M.
It’s a bidding war and Levy hates that, can’t blame Southampton for using Everton to put the squeeze on Levy, we’d do the same. Southampton have just bought a defender. Looks like we have been gazumped. Southampton obviously don’t want to spin this out until the last day of the window in October Levy style.
He’s agreed terms with Everton, according to Saints News.
Southampton have accepted an offer from Everton for £25m. The player has made his preferences clear he wants Spurs. He goes into the last year of his contract and imo wasn’t worth £35m,now the price is down to £25m, its more likely to happen.
