Tanguy Ndombele Made One Great Move Last Night But So Many Poor Ones…

By The Boy -

Tanguy Ndombele’s assist to Heung Son-Min was pretty damn fine, unfortunately it was one of the few things the 23-year-old managed to get right against LASK last night.

The player we paid Olympique Lyon £36million for in 2019, has shown us many moments of magic, yet only managed to complete an entire game twice, so far this season. That was against Shkendija on 24.09.2020 in the Europa League, and against Chelsea on 29.09.2020 in the Carabao Cup. Last night we got another 66-minutes.

Total actions / successful

48% of everything Tanguy attempted last night – didn’t work – and for reference his mean average for successful actions is 67.4%.

Dribbles / successful

When it came to dribbling, which is a discipline that Tanguy can be immense at, he only managed one successfully, which is 17%. Ordinarily, the boy averages 70%.

Few Tottenham players can claim to have a good game against LASK, and it would be a gross exaggeration to day that Ndombele lost us the game, but the Frenchman’s sloppy contributions were certainly part of the problem.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought N’Dom was poor last night watching that game, contary to some comments during the match. But nobody came out of that game with any real credit.with passing and movement so wretched.

It was pretty awful all round against a side we should have beaten with ease.I noticed the ar*e didn’t struggle too much against their opponents who incidentally play in the same league as LASK.
There are some in our squad who will be gone if not next month then certainly in the summer.I am sure Mourinho knows who they are. However he has to shoulder some blame also, because that was too defensive a line up those opponenets. We should respect all opposition, but not be afraid to put them to the sword.
We certainly need to see a vast improvement on Sunday.

N’Dombele cost £53.8m not £36m.

Agree, I made the point in the match blog, the players are so used to axminster carpets to play on , but they couldn’t get used to the icy conditions last night.

I thought the pitch was awful, looked like the ball was bobbling around all over the place, but having said that, the LASK players seemed to control the ball OK “!!!!!!

If such a strong side failed to impress all round the pitch you have to question why, maybe it was the attitude as Mourinho is saying, but it keeps happening in this competition. I have absolutely no doubt that Sunday we’ll see a decent performance on a decent pitch against a better team.

That was awful all round last night, i don’t actually think there was one player who came out of that with any credit last night. I think the mentality that Jose is trying to instill in this team was again missing last night, same as in the Antwerp game, Oh, we just need to turn up to win etc..

It was a game to get out of the system and go again.

The only source of comfort is last time we played poorly in the Europa the result was worse and the response after in the league was immense.

Let’s hope history repeats, i’d rather Jose was rollicking them for below par Europa performances than league no shows.
