Spurs Offered Former Arsenal Player I’ve Always Had A Soft Spot For|Confession/Report

Warning: This article contains content that may offend some Spurs fans.

I’m a die-hard Tottenham supporter, and have been for over 20 years. I know I’m taught to hate everything about Arsenal, but there have been a handful of their players – and no more – over the years who I’ve reluctantly learned to appreciate because their talent supercedes my bloodlust.

Marc Overmars, Cesc Fabregas (I know that one won’t be popular), and most recently Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are examples of those who have earned my admiration from across enemy lines. And directly before Aubameyang was the Arsenal player I hated to love, it was Aaron Ramsey.

Technical, skilful, tough, a goalscorer – especially at important moments – Ramsey is a midfielder who played the game how I like to watch it.

My guilt for liking Ramsey fortunately subsided last summer when he left Arsenal to join Juventus, but both The Sun and The Mirror report that he could already be on his way out of Turin as the Serie A champions look to trim their wage bill in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. They are overloaded in central midfielder and the two British tabloids both understand that the 29-year-old Welshman has been offered to Spurs on loan for next season.

We can nip this rumour in the bud immediately, after learning that Ramsey earns a mammoth £400,000 a week at Juve, by virtue of costing them zero in transfer fees. Spurs wouldn’t even reach to pay 50% of that salary, surely?

And as much as I’m a Ramsey fan, I wouldn’t want him at Spurs, now at least. While I could forgive his Arsenal past, I know others couldn’t, and, more logically, I think we’re well-stocked for free-thinking midfielders.

If you had to admit to liking one ex-Arsenal player, who would it be?

Viera was immense. A brutal giant with loads of flair.

Henry was easily the best in my time. Followed closely by viera for me. Hate them all, i have no respect or soft spot for any gooner, though william gallas did ok for us. Adebayor for me his length of the pitch sprint to celebrate in front of the gooner faithful was the stuff of legends 😂

Bergkamp would be my choice. Bruce Rioch didn’t get much credit for signing him. Alan Sugar who knows about as much about football as Levy does, referred to him as Carlos Kickaball. My second choice would be Viera as per an earlier contributor. We haven’t had that sort of midfield leader since Dave Mackay.

I’d probably go for Jack Wilshere or Sol Campbell. 😂 seriously though maybe Henry or Bergkamp

No question who it would be. Bergkamp. The guy oozed class, much as I’d hate to admit it.

Salary and injury record should rule him out immediately.
If I had to choose it would be Viera. How long is it since we had a fighter with his physical presence in midfield,or any position.
