Spurs looking to bring another of their former players home

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham brought back Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this season as they look to end their wair for a trophy.

The Welshman had left them for the Spanish giants in 2013, and it seems that another of his Madrid teammates may be joining him soon.

A report from Spain’s Elchiringuitotv as reported by the Express says that Spurs are considering a move for Luka Modric.

The Croatian left Spurs for Madrid in 2012 and he has gone on to win every trophy in club football.

At 35, he should be struggling to play for such a big team, but he has maintained his level of performance until now.

The report says that Jose Mourinho is looking to lure him back to the club as he bids to win the Premier League this season.

Modric is in the final year of his current deal with the Spanish side, there is every chance that he will leave them at the end of this campaign.

Spurs aren’t looking to wait until the end of the season before they can land him, a move for him in the next transfer window is more likely says the report.

This is because the club wants him to join their chase of the title this season.

We’ll see if Jose goes to a more possession based approach. All I know is, we were better against Liverpool when we came out a bit more, part of the reason we drew at Palace was a lack of adventure to kill it off too. If he’s too stubborn to change it then he really hasn’t changed as a manager at all…

Jose hasn’t played Gio and Tanguy together because then he only has one midfielder doing the low block rather than two. He’s too defensive minded for that it seems…

It is sexy. But does he have the legs for the grind. I want to see 4 back PEH in front Tanguy and Gio under the front 3. Now that is mouth watering.

Makes zero sense. We need to find a creative mid that can pull the string ala Erikssen. Tanguy is not sustainly at #10. It is time to say thank you Sissoko, drop to a 4123 formafion so Gio and Tanguy can be on the pitch together. I do not buy they are not fit for 90 minutes. If you are pounding teams in the first half. they do not need to go 90 together. That is why you have Lamela, Sissoko and Winks. Alli, Bale to come in at the 70 to 80 minute mark.

Maybe Modric returning would fire up Bale. From a purely romantic fiction novel, the thought of Bale and Modric wearing the Spurs shirt once again alongside Kane and Son in a title-winning side is the stuff of dreams. Modric never relied on pace but a sharp and instinctive football brain so maybe if he is still playing at a level good enough for RM he could return. However, he did say that was unlikely.
