Spurs could already break key promise they made to Conte before he got the job

By Mark Brus -

Tottenham reportedly assured Antonio Conte that Harry Kane could remain a part of his plans for the future despite ongoing speculation over his future.

It seems this was a key vow made by Spurs to Conte before he took the job, according to ESPN, though they now add that Daniel Levy could still be tempted to cash in on Kane if a good enough offer comes in in the January transfer window.

This certainly seems a risky strategy by Levy if the report is accurate, as we’ve seen just how much things can blow up with Conte if he isn’t given what he wants in terms of transfer decisions.

That was where it all went wrong for the Italian tactician during his time at Chelsea, and it seemed to be the case at Inter Milan as well, with the club unable to keep Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi due to financial issues this summer, when Conte also departed.

Tottenham surely cannot afford to backtrack on Kane, even if his form hasn’t been the best so far this season.

The England international is a world class talent on his day, and Conte could be ideal to get him back to his best. He should be given that chance, rather than face losing him straight away.

So with the international break, I will suggest the town jesters take a local break as well.

Anybody who seriously thinks that various Kane scenarios were not discussed between Levy / Paratici and Conte prior to him agreeing is, at the very least, insulting Contes intelligence.
What assurance could Levy have given Conte? Kane will not be sold under any circumstances? So what happens if Kane says he wants to leave and if he doesn’t get his wish in January / Summer 2022 he will just run down the next 18 months of his contract and then sign a pre-contract with someone on a free – you really think Levy would back himself into a corner by making promises to Conte that he cannot be sure he can keep? The story is rubbish – by the start of the 22/23 season Kane will have signed a new contract, either with Spurs or with another club. End of.

The damage done by Nuno’s short reign was critical. I still cannot find any posters anywhere who said “great Nuno we will win the league” at best people said give him a chance.
Hopefully that was Paratici’s biggest mistake.
Kane will love working under Conte I’m sure if Citeh come in with a big offer he could go but probably will stay and reap the benefits next season (I dont mean jam tomorrow I mean going for the CL next season).

Are the media still trying to get Conte to Utd? Seems a lot of media figures are bent out of shape that we got him.

“IF a good enough offer comes in….”
I think we ALL know who’ll be setting the price of said “good enough offer.”
Only Manchester City are without a recognised striker & possibly the only club that could afford him but would they make a ‘good enough offer?’
Señor Guardiola stated Mr. Levy was “unwilling to negotiate” in the summer so why would ESPN (or anyone else) think that’s changed & with 2½ years left on his contract, it’s surely is of no consequential difference?

Which Kane is it Spurs are hoping to keep , the one that played well v Albania or the one that has been lolloping around the park for Spurs receiving little service.
Bit of a non story as the price set by Levy will be too high and we may well be left with grumpy Kane spearheading our charge for Top 4 ..oh ok Conference Plate..which would seal UEFA next season…
