Son survives Covid scare and quarantine but South Korea still lose

By Bruce Grove -

Son Heung-min survived a covid-19 scare yesterday on national team duty after four members of the South Korean national team tested positive for coronavirus, as reported by the Sun.

The Asian nation then had to quarantine their national team members including Son ahead of their friendly game against Mexico.

The attacker has been one of Tottenham’s key players this season and the club will have had their hearts in their mouths when the news first broke that he has been forced into quarantine.

The situation of things earlier in the day was that their game against the North Americans will be called off if more covid cases were discovered.

Thankfully, that wasn’t the case and both nations squared up against each other in Austria.

It wasn’t a good outcome for Son and his teammates who were beaten 3-2 by the Mexicans.

Korea took the lead in the 20th minute and they held on to it for more than 40 minutes before Mexico scored an equalizer through Raul Jimenez.

The game opened up from then on and Mexico scored two more goals, while Korea scored one.

Spurs will be happy that Son will be free to face Manchester City when football returns next weekend.

Ray Clemence has found new pastures. God bless him. I enjoyed my time in the 80s watching him from behing the goal in the Park Lane. Always chatted with the fans and gave a wave. A gentleman.
