Sky Sports journalist claims potential Luis Diaz transfer shows Spurs’ commitment to Antonio Conte

By Eddie Razo -

There are only a few days left until the January window closes, and Tottenham Hotspur is trying to pull off a significant transfer to show manager Antonio Conte they’re backing him financially.

This week, Spurs made an offer for FC Porto winger Luis Diaz; however, their bid for the Colombia international was rejected, falling short of what the Portuguese club wants for him.

Nonetheless, Sky Sports’ Declan Olley says that landing Diaz would show a commitment to Conte. The Italian tactician has made it clear the gap there is between his squad and those atop the Premier League standings.

“The next two windows are critical in the Italian’s future at Tottenham. Back him and Spurs have the chance to get themselves back in the Champions League and start competing for honors. But fail to match his ambition, and Tottenham will not just drift further from the elite; they will risk losing Conte,” Olley said.

“A successful move for Diaz would prove Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is serious in backing Conte.”

Despite the rejection of their initial bid, Tottenham and Porto remain in talks for Diaz. The Dragões want a sum closer to the €80-million release clause that Porto has on the forward.

With only a few days left, Spurs will have to come up with an offer that Porto will feel is what they want for the winger, to let him go this month.

I’m sorry but I can’t hold MY thoughts on all this & THFC fans & the constant delusive & fallacious arguments.
IF you believe EVERTHING you read or hear from whichever media source, you really need to give your head a double long wobble!
This player, that player whom they ‘report’ THFC are interested in, talking to, bid on, etc IS mostly fabricated or speculative nonsense, sensationalist sports journalism to create exactly what THFC fans are so very keen on doing!
So, this window alone, THFC have been ‘linked’ to OVER 35 players, are they ALL true or do you tend to personally select which ones are & which aren’t? Are THFC 100% ‘linked’ to ALL of them? Bid one day, bid rejected the next, havent bid at all the following week, what is it? Can’t have it both ways, either believe everything or not!
Taking some/all of the players mentioned in the comments, the varying reports over the window have ranged either individually &/or all/partly collectively, from – wants to leave, deal with club agreed, personal terms agreed, doesn’t want to leave now & is waiting till the summer, wants to go to another club, etc. What parts do you believe? A thought process that allows you to pick out selective bits you do & ignore the rest is illogical at best & then turning it into yet another attack on Mr. Levy WITHOUT truly knowing ALL the FACTS is just fashionable & NO, I’m NOT defending him for his crimes against the club, just saying it can’t be ‘his’ fault IF a player doesn’t wish to move now/till summer or wants to play for Juventus or Barcelona, etc – depending on which ‘reports’ are your choice to entirely believe.
Now I KNOW as controversial to some this all may be, I stand by MY seeing & reading the fact too many THFC fans are over eager to view everything with the same stance as the majority of jackanory stories emanating from the media, i.e., with skewed & unsubstantiated invention.
Yes, we ALL know the THFC squad needs serious attention, overhauling, rebuilding, etc & Senor Conte needs backing & being given what he requests to the best of the clubs ability but we must all remember, you can’t force clubs to sell contracted players nor players to sign no matter what the media may ‘claim’ is the current situation, which as you’ll read or hear, changes hourly or daily depending on each individual outlet.

It doesn’t show anything to Conte as it’s all a lie from Levy, he never had any intention in buying Diaz, he knew he wouldn’t come, that’s exactly why the bid was placed, to try and fool the Spurs fans into believing that Levy is trying to sign the very best, just as he did in the summer with Martinez, he knew he’d never sign too, and in this window, Kessie and Vlahovic are another two. The list goes on with fantastic players Levy has bid for but never signed. Do NOT be fooled, he lied to Harry Kane, he lied to Conte and he lies to the fans every time the transfer window opens.
Levy, Lewis and ENIC OUT !!

This is exactly the effect Levy wants to achieve. Is it real or just pretend to give that impression though? Levy has previous form for these sort of shenanigans so I suspect it’s all purely PR. Prove me wrong baldy and buy the player, also bring in Traore and show you actually do want to support Conte.

Just what I was about to write. “Potential” transfers mean absolutely nothing. The state of the squad after the transfer window will tell us if he’s being backed or not.

Right now, 0 players in. And the clock is ticking.

not gonna happen, normal smoke and mirrors from Levy. Conte will be gone in the summer.

It’ll be great if true but we need 4-5 coming in this month and how long will it take them to get to the speed of the prem, we are close to the top 4 investment this month will pay off in the summer if we are in the Champs league.

Surely we’ve seen this before, I can offer £10.60 and a packet of cigs for a ferrari, that doesn’t mean they’ll accept it or indeed that it’s a serious statement of intent. I’ll believe this backing more when Levy actually hands over the suitcase full of his lovely money to somebody.
