Sky Sports: Barcelona’s Alleged Ndombele Swap Deal… Could Actually Pan Out

By Joe Fish -

Barcelona are keen to sign Tanguy Ndombele and have offered Tottenham two players in exchange for the midfielder, according to Sky Sports.

The two players in question are right-back Nelson Semedo and centre-back Samuel Umtiti. These are both reportedly priority areas that Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen, although Lyall Thomas adds in his report that he is unsure whether the Portuguese approves of these players specifically.

However, Brazilian midfielder Arthur, who has recently been linked to Spurs by Mundo Deportivo, is not thought to be available as part of the deal.

Swap deals are notoriously rare but might be the order of business this summer because of the financial implications of the Covid-19 postponement on the transfer market. Sky Sports understand that Barcelona wants to add more physicality to their midfield, and we know that Spurs need half a dozen new players, but probably only have the money to bring in a couple.

There’s a deal to be done here that could suit all parties.

Barca are crap at the back, taking their unwanted defenders will come with a health warning. Umtitties hasn’t impressed me since his move to Barca.

Ndombollocks is on 200k a week the same as kane.. Get rid asap he has the skill and talent in glimpses, but he doesn’t have the mentality… Has he even managed 90 minutes yet? There are many semi pro and amateur players in england who train midweek and play saturday and sunday. 180 minutes plus a week…. This guy is 22 and hes not 19 stone anymore, yet runs like he still is.

That deal would be good for us, which is why it worries me. I am inclined to agree with J McKevitt. There are lots of potential swaps, involving Kane and (insert club) but how often do they happen? Arthur is top draw, I like him as a player. We don’t sign top draw players though, unless they are damaged in some way. Ndombele with his Big Mac addiction! If Barca were to sell Arthur to us he would probably turn out to be a glue sniffer!

These deals usually break down because the player, on the other end of the swap just doesn’t fancy the move, involving two players makes it almost impossible. Barcelona also pay very good wages so I don’t see it happening.
